The bitmap issue

Since the tech support forum is pretty dry, I'm posting here.
Anyways, there's something out there, maybe it's just a bug, or a virus, that makes every picture in my browser save as an untitled bitmap. It used to happen just on this computer, and I thought it wasn't a big deal, but now the same issue started on my other pc. The problem here is with animated GIF's, I can't save the full animations, just one frame, as a bitmap. If anyone out there knows of this issue and how to fix it, please enlighten me.
Also, possibly related, view source for webpages stopped working for both browsers on both pc's as well.

1. Run a Virus Scanner. Let us know the results
2. Run spybot and ad aware.
3. reboot your PC.
finally, quit using IE and start using Firefox.

tools -> internet options -> Delete Files
this will fix the .bmp problem (not right away, but it will)

I'm running Firefox on this machine (Linux) - and I have no problems at all.
IE is a nightmare and should never be used.... ever.

I've had WAY more problems with Firefox than I ever have with IE. Sorry.

The only problems I have with Firefox is when I hit a website that requires IE due to be written for the (I'm assuming) ActiveX controls that IE supports.... maybe it's some other "feature" of IE... but that's it.
Beyond that, I've had 1/10 as many popups (that's probably being conservative... it's probably more like 1/100), zero spyware-via-browser attacks, and about half as many browser lockups as when I used IE.
I'm not a 100% believer in Firefox, but compared to IE, it's less shitty.

Well - right now I have two options... Konqueror and Firefox. They're both great (IMO), but I'm using Firefox more - I like the set up much better.
I'm loving this Linux distro... in fact I think I'm going to dedicate another 50 gigs to it and leave a 30 gig partition for Windows (just for EQ, Quake and Doom) among other things like converting my wma files to mp3... I haven't used Windows since I've gotten this up and running and at this point - I have no desire to go back.

Your allotted space for cached files is used up. Delete your temporary internet files, it will begin to save as the appropriate image type again.

I ran Firefox for a while. I removed it from the computer (no idea why we did that, or who even) and it didn't remove it entirely. So, now when I try to download it again and reinstall, it won't do it properly, and I can't remove it properly. I <3'ed firefox and want it back, I have hella problems.

You must be one hell of a computer illiterate noob to have "WAY" more problems with Firefox than IE.
I can't even comprehend what would constitute you to say "WAY" more problems...

Moreso than using the same picture over and over?
Not nearly

I wouldn't have to 'come back' from someone posting a picture of me. Unicorn background or not. But then, I'm not an embarrassment to my species and therefore, pictures of me are naturally less... how do you say... insulting? Making an interminable retort of, "whatever, fag" unnecessary?
I'd say so.

Rationalizing your obsession isn't a healthy practice...
Honestly the pictures aren't insulting at all to me.
It's flattering that you all can't get my E-cock out of your mouth long enough to do anything but think of new ways to superimpose my picture into your homosexually themed fantasies.
Oh, that and calling me fat when none of you have seen a picture of me newer than 2 years ago

Ohnoes, the "whatever, fag" comeback is back! What can I do?
Even better...
I'M NOT INSULTED BY THE PICTURE(IN NO WAY WHATSOEVER), BUT JUST IN CASE YOU ARE WONDERING, THE PICTURE (THAT I'M NOT ASHAMED OF IN ANYWAY FYI & BTW) IS OVER 2 YEARS OLD AND I'M NOT NEARLY SO FAT ANYMORE.
Glorious.
I need a glory emoticon. Typing can fully reveal the joy I felt when I read that. I mean... you really typed that.

NM, someone posted the fix before, and I missed it. Go back to power-owning Finawin. (not that it's tough, kinda like dynamiting fish in a barrel, but sometimes it's necessary)
