because the Salvation Army HAD to put a shelter in. (This was not a decision liked by the neighborhood, since up until then it was all residential and a nice place to raise kids.) This fight probably had about 30 or so people involved, either fighting or yelling.
So two cop cars show up to bust it up and the one cop slams his cruiser into the back end of the other cruiser. Too too funny.
This is my drama for the night.

You should go down there and beat some ass, that way you can post your mugshot instead of lame "no webcam" excuse.

But might I suggest a 40oz in a paper bag and a tank top with a spaghetti stain?

Apparantly, my evening wasn't over when I posted that. About an hour after that some idiot driving a semi thru the neighborhhood (why, I'll never understand, it's all houses 'cept for the SA) and somehow missed that the road deadends in a porch and you have no choice but to turn left.
So he's almost touching the porch (a good 20 feet from the road) with his truck, and trying to back up enough to make the turn without hitting all the cars parked on the road. And he's using his jake brakes.....at 10:30pm....in a residential neighborhood.
So he does finally make it out of here but it took him about 15 minutes or so to manage it.
Can't wait to see what happens tonight.

yup....never a dull moment in midworld.
I think they should have dropped off a load of guns locked them inside the salvation army and wished them the best of luck. Frankly it would be great. let them kill each other off. The one that walks out gets a free house in Cabrini Green.

American mentality. Put it in a shitty neighborhood and make it shittier. Fuck em, they're already poor.

No, it didn't woosh. It was just wrong.
The SA does drag down the area tho. I wish I had known it was there when we first looked at the place.

You don't get it.
Putting that SA in a shitty area would make it even shittier, but you don't care about them.
Your sense of community does not stretch further then your selfish ass because you don't care about anyone but yourself.
That's why every city has a ghetto, because you lump low-income housing over low-income housing to protect all the "good" communities.
If the SA wasn't in your neighborhood it would just be in someone else's. Stop fucking whining.
Hi Fin, if you wanna talk with the big boys sack up or shut the fuck up.

Sense of community as defined is "selfish" in and of itself.
Obviously she's going to care more about her community and less-so about someone elses...what's the problem with that?
If a gay bar was to be opened up on the other side of town, I wouldn't give a fuck. If it was to open across the street from my house, I'd be ripshit however.
That is completely acceptable selfish behavior. My sense of community outweighs the needs of the others because I LIVE IN IT. I don't give a fuck about any other random Joe Blow's. I damn well shouldn't either, I have my own problems and they have theirs.
Why in God's name would you want to plop projects in the "good" part of a city? They attract drug dealers, whores, gang activity, weapons etc. They live in shitty housing for a reason, keep them seperated until they stop selling crack and sucking dick.

Way to put words in my mouth. Where did I ever say I wished the place on anyone else?
Thing is, this isn't that large a town. We're not talking Chicago here. There's tons of farmland around. They could have put up a facility on a farm somewhere very near and not have the problems they do have and it wouldn't be in anyone's neighborhood.

I would open a gay bar across the street with open arms. I wouldnt have to drive there anymore....it's hell to find parking down there.

Because some people can't afford good homes and I'm pretty sure not everyone who lives under the poverty line sucks dick for crack.
But who cares about poor people, as long as I don't have to see them it's not a problem.
Selfish asshole.

I'm poor. I dont do crack, deal drugs, participate in gang activity or carry a gun.
Most people complain about SA's coming to town because it lowers property value so they dont get a lot when they sell.

Hi Fin, if you wanna talk with the big boys sack up or shut the fuck up.
I can't tell you what you Kanooks think aboot it, but lemme give you an example of what happens down here when you put low income housing next to higher income housing.
There is a city in Louisiana named Shreveport. It is one strange city because you literally have a $350,000 house with shanties on either side of it. This isnt the exception in S'port, it is the rule. There are very few neighborhoods that were properly "Planned" so everyone just seems to build where they can find land regardless of what is next door.
S'port has a plethora of problems including crime (higher per capita murder rate than New Orleans, City of Sin) poor education, (There are literally no "good schools" because every public school is inundated with your typical "Ghetto trash"), horrible resale values on property, (who wants pay full market value to live next to a shanty?) and pollution, (why keep your yard nice when you have a crackhouse down the street and someone is just going to overdose in your front yard and stink up the place anyway).
Say what you want about liberal values and such, but people who are educated, work hard, and make a good living don't want to live next to someone who is a third generation welfare recipiant.
As for where the SA is, lets turn it around and ask you how you would feel about a landfill being put into your neighborhood? How about a prison? Do you want your children to grow up with murderers and rapists living down the street?
Put them in their own areas, low income people relate better to low income people than higher income people. I know that as a low-middle class person I relate better to people of my own social standing. "Rich" people are snobs for the most part and I would prefer not to have to deal with them unless it is on a business relationship. I also don't relate well to third generation welfare recipiants either, I jsut don't understand their motivation (or lack thereof) and just cant relate to them at all. Once again I would rather only deal with them on a professional basis and not be forced to interact with them on a regular basis.
Besides, why should a person who is in need of the services of a SA have to travel across town to get to one. If the neighborhood is a middle-class/high-class neighborhood, then by definaition the people living near arent needing the services of an SA and the people who do need it dont live near enough to make it convenient to access.
It has been my experience that every one is happier with people of the same social standing living around them, so get off your high horse and accept that maybe it wasn't that way be design, but rather because that is just the way it worked out.
