I will have ~$2000 to spend on a new computer at the end of the month.

I do a fair amount of gaming and would like to have in the neighborhood of 175-300gb of storage on a raid-1 setup.

AMD or Intel, I don't care to be quite honest.

Video card, would prefer something that can run games smoothly. 9800pro+ for ATI, don't know comparable for NVidia anymore.

Ram - 1gb minimum, 2gb preferred.

I'd also like this in a smaller case.

I have a 17" lcd already, so that is a non issue.

Sound is sound, I'll most likely not use it.

Lights are for faggots. I don't rice out my car, I certainly don't want to rice out my computer. However, I would prefer a metal case or high impact plastic.

Find me something guys! I can put stuff together np and I don't want any pre-installed OSs.

Change it to remove what you want. This should be setup for under 700 dollars.

Taxx may be a doofus, but he was spot on regarding these guys. I have several friends running their rigs rights now.

Go to SMK Superstore.com

I spent 900 bucks and got:

Pentium IV 3.2 gig chip
Gig of Atlas RAM
160 gig Seagate HD
ASUS MB
ATI Radeon 9600 Atlantis 256 meg Vid Card
Sony CD burner
Sony DVD player
Aluminum Case
Sound Blaster Card
450 watt PS

Plus fans, and other extra's like heat sink gel.

I'm looking at an SLI config with RAID striping.

I wish I could setup a dual processor setup with all of that as well.

It'd be like having two computers in one!

Plus, the soundcard will have stereo sound, which is like two channels!

OWNAGE.

I run Cyberpower, and just had them build my Dad's new computer. I love it.

I don't see how you can spend $2000 on a PC these days. I just built a machine for a friend.

Biostar IDEQ 210P
Athlon 64 3400+
1GB matched 400MHZ DDR
10,000RPM 80GB SATA drive
4in 8out Pro quality recording sound card
16X DVD-R/CD-RW drive
Crappy 32MB vid card

That came to less than $900. Add a $300 video card, another gig of ram for $120 or so, replace the 10,000 RPM drive with 2 160GB 7200RPM SATA drives for another $120 or so and you are still only looking at <$1500. Take the leftover money and get a hooker and an 8 ball of coke.

I'd take the extra $500 and buy an awesome computer chair

for all the shiznat I've bought over the years, a nice chair has been the best investment
