Arena League player dies from spinal cord injury

I have never, ever heard of this happen. How rare is this feat? Can anyone remember any other professional or college athlete dying from a freak injury like this?
Anyways, RIP. He was young...26!

It was a frak accident, tho fragile the spinal cord can take a lot of dmg before it will out and out kill you = (

been a few college hockey players over the years that have taken serious spinal injuries by going into the boards wrong, a couple have died.

It wasn't a crazy helmet to helmet hit or anything either. The replay doesn't even look that brutal. He caught a knee to the side of the head. The angle must have been just right to cause such an injury.

Theres been a few pro athletes, and there was a story on espn about some guy named chucky who played for Ole Miss i think it was and he did from a tackle
I just seem to remember it happening to a pro, been years tho, just seen highlights
