I bought Halo and I lost interest after the first play, so I let my son play it, and he just goes around shooting the good guys. He laughs maniaclly, its rather humorous.

no beta, it is just the bad-assesest 1st person shooter out there, it is really great if you have people to play against, gets boring of you play alone, Halo 2 is coming out at the end of the year, didn't know if anyone else played

Yeah, I have some buddies who play 9-2 am on Monday nights, play 16 players, they are badass

I think the single player Halo kicks ass. Some of the levels are repeated enough to be annoying but the AI and and level design are fantastic.
Crank the difficulty up to Legendary and play the game through. It's brilliant. I tried playing at normal and the AI and challenge is not nearly as impressive.

The problem with my friends, is that while we have the people for a 16-man, they've never lasted very long. The couple we've done were fun, but with that many people, there were too many people that weren't as good as say, my friends Derek and Mark, or myself. Those people just got bored and wanted to leave (and they're usually the people that are giving others a ride home. Domino effect.)
8 and 12 person lans usually work out and are great fun, though.
I'll definetely be getting Halo 2.
