i don't have cable i use it only for console games and movies

when there aren't any console games or movie devices on but the TV is on, the screen is solid blue

Take it out of A/V mode?

Should be an input button or menu item somewhere on the TV. Whether through remote or a menu driven thingy within the TV...it doesn't matter. It is there.

1x Red Sharpie pen + 15 minutes and I could make that screen a purplish sorta color.

Seriously I have never even heard of anyone doing that, hacking a cable box for extra channels yes, making the AV screen another color? never.

just turn it off
