We got our manager a laptop for his 5 year anniversary at the restuaraunt. He loves it, and has a wireless connection at home, but brings the laptop to work. He lives less than 5 miles from home. I remember someone saying you could buy something that plugs in the USB or something that will pick up his wireless network from home while he is at work. Please help. thanks.

The best range for wireless home networks is about 1000 feet. He won't be able to use his home network 5 miles away.

ISPs (mostly the big telco's) offer wireless service for mobile devices such as laptops and handhelds. He can check there. If he goes with that he could set up some VPN crap to give him access to his home connection.

Satellite is the way to go! Cost is outrageous, but worth it if you travel.

He can get a cellular modem. Right now they only support like a 54K connection but that is going to 540K end of summer.
