Anyone good with cell phone stuff ? (Nextel)

I'm looking at switching phones from an i60c to an i830. Problem is, Nextel is retarded and wants me to sign up for additional contract shit. All I want is the newer smaller phone so I can carry it around comfortably in my pocket.

I've heard that just switching the SIM cards will do the trick. Does the phone have to be unlocked or anything first before I put my old SIM card in? I was gonna buy a phone off ebay but I don't wanna spend 180 bucks and then not be able to use the phone.

If anyone knows how the system works let me know~

It depends on the manufacture date of the phones. When I set up Nextel, I was told I could just "buy phones" and swap the SIM cards, 3 months later, the SIM cards in my old phones were worthless and I needed an upgrade. Fuck Nextel, as a matter of fact, fuck cell phones in general. I am betting my left maple nut if you buy the phone on e-bay ou are throwing away money because you will still have to start a new contract.

They do however allow you to buy a new phone without contract, the difference is that it will cost you about $130-$160 more to do so.

Check the Nextel site and see if you're elegible for an upgrade. Upgrading your phone to the model you want is about the same as them asking you to sign a new contract.

Also, check to see if you have insurance on your old phone. If you do, find out if the phone you want is on the list of phones you can replace your "lost, stolen" phone with or possibly sold to you at a discounted price.

I bought a new Nextel phone and upgraded it with no issue or no new contract. Just find the local dealer and go in and ask about it, and they'll do the upgrade for you.

If you do it yourself, you may invalidate your contract or service.

I wish I could help you out but I'm in the same boat with Sprint. I have this Samsung N400 (Pic inc..) and it's a peice of shit phone now and they've done all the updates they can, my signals drop all the time. Also it's broken on the flip part and held together with tape. I could pay the $150 to cancel my contract, or I can find a good cheap used sprint phone and have them switch out the card for me. If I buy anything from them though , It signs me up for 2 more years :( My contract is up in June of next year.

So anyone have an extra sprint phone that is decent working they wanna sell cheap (as in under $50) ?

Pft Jennay.

Which sprint store? And how long have you had your phone?

(ps as a Sprint rep you didnt hear this from me but) July 7th we should start doing instant rebates with new service agreements as long as you have had the phone over 18 months.

Also Jennay. you could do our pre-owned program. Half off any phone in the stores normal retail price with contract but we take your old phone if yours is broken etc.

peace bitchs.

I have a bad experience everytime I go into Sprint. My husband bought a new phone from them...we have a two year contract, and it broke within 3 months, and they didn't replace it so he had to go to Radio Shack to get a new one. I just hate cell phones and their respective companies, and I can't wait until this contract is up.
You might try Radio Shack though, sometimes they have cheaper phones.
