So I am wondering about attack speed.

Is it equal to the dmg/delay on weapons in everquest, where lower is better?

Or is a higher attack speed mean faster?

I know this is a noob question, but I am a hunter and it will play an important part in the pets I choose.

I liked having a crab...awesome defense.

I have read the bears are the best all around, and the crabs and tortoises great AC, read up on all of the pets, I am using a Swoop at the moment, they are decent all around and can knock down standing targets so that is good,

but, what about the attack speed thing

Lower is faster, if you want fast get a cat.. in my opinion they are the best for pvp. If you are looking for a tank/something to level up with get a bear. But, since I play on a pvp server, I don't have much use for a bear and always keep a cat with me. They are great for interupting casting and they get dash, which owns.

for lower levels if you want something to tank with while soloing or whatever use a bear, high hp/armor and the ability to eat anything owns - however at level 60 fast attack speed and dash owns all, not really for dps reasons (since even though a creature might have a fast atk speed, it's avg dps will equal out to be about the same as other creatures in it's family) but as togusa said the faster atk speed really helps when fighting casters.

when you get to level 36 or 37, go to swamp of sorrows and tame a swamp jaguar - they're 1.2 atk speed and have dash and all that shit, and just level that up to 60. That's the easiest/fastest thing to get that isn't a rare spawn and won't require a shitload of dumb camping.

another thing to keep in mind is that in the upcoming hunter patch, all pet stats are being changed so they're all pretty much equal - the differences will be from what you choose to train your pet, rather than innate attack speed and shit that it already has once tamed.

seriously though - if you're at all interested in pvp, get the fastest attack speed pet possible that has dash (dash also owns at pet pulling in molten core)

so i was looking for The Rake to tame him, in Mulgore and this noob who had been following me around as of 3 minutes before runs up and starts whacking it and begs for my help so he doesn't die, not sure why i let him live, won't happen again

I have The Rake on my hunter and have used him since I got him. Have tried bird, boar, gator, turtle and wolf. My cat has been the best of them all. He tanks just fine for me, same and +1 elites can beat him around but usually die before he does.

Cats can use all abilties, have fast atk, and can eat fish/meat

Bears are slower than fuck, eat anything

Owls are the highest DPS pets, but are loud and annoying

If you take any 2 pets, make them duel, and they'll be almost exactly even

so, just pick the one with the model you like best

good advice, i have The Rake as my pet as of yesterday, also, to get another pet how do you stable your other pet, I have only been able to dismiss my pets

Stable Masters in the cities.

I like the Rake, very good pet and not a bad tanker for a cat.
