You missed the option for "No, not interested in MMO anymore"

That was: Hell no! I'm still bitter about wasting 4 years on EQ.
EDIT -- I just tried to add "Couldn't care less about MMO games" Anyone know how to edit the poll settings?

I added an option for you. Can't change polls, normally.
I'll try it out, most likely, but I'm so part time in MMOs I'm not sure if it'd be worth my while. I am at the point in my gaming life where anything more than 10 hours a week is way too much for me.

I'll probably give it a whirl...but not at release.

I am done with these MMOs.

It sounds pretty cool to me. It's by the creator of EQ, Brad McQuaid, and is designed to cater to "core gamers"; these are more or less defined as those who loved the original EQ. I would think that many here would qualify . . .
It's hard to say since it's pre-Beta, but all evidence is that it will be challenging and will force interdependence (i.e. it will be slow to progress with soloing only).

That's not to say that we wouldn't consider an adaptation to the 360 at some point after release - but there is no work going on to that end at this point.

wonder how long it will be until launch? have they said anything yet?

All they have officially said is that it will be in 2006. They seem very determined not to rush launch and to fully test it. It is in "Beta 0" right now and is just being tested by friends and family. People are speculating that it will be 12 months before launch.

It sounds promising, i've been looking back into it more and more. Hopefully it'l be what I hope it to be. WoW is cool i guess..fast paced...
WoW is a carefree game though.
When EQ first came out, you were afraid, there was a fear of not finding your corpse, losing exp when you died, traveling through places where you shouldn't be to reach another newbie area. All of that stuff I look forward to seeing in Vanguard.

Another feature that will appeal to those of you who don't like playing with leet d00dz is Vanguard's naming policy. A GM will approve every name individually. See this article that discusses their planned CS.

And they will also package magical unicorn airplanes with every box!
If they honestly believe half the things they are touting in that interview, good for them, but I think anyone can see where that is headed.

Maybe, maybe not. This is NOT a group of individual without experience in the MMO market, so my guess is that they know what they're doing. Of course, we'll know a lot more closer to release.
By the way, if you think that interview was impressive, you should check out The Safehouse's 5 part writeup of Vanguard...

Star Wars galaxies, huge name before that who everyone worshiped and looked at as the savior of MMOs while EQ ws still top like McQuaid is now. I think everyone remembers the hype, drama, insane promises accompanied by the development of SWG and what came out.
THe other one is the guy who created Populus. He is one of the "game gods" along with Sid Meier (another embarassment), Will wright, etc go back and read some of the beta previews of games like Black and White and Fable.
Right now they can say anything they want and dream they can add and from the CS interview I am seeing another SWG.

bump because beta 1 started today and invitations to fill out an app went out to all active Vanguardsoh forum members in order of registration
I'm looking forward to trying this because WoW and guild wars don't have a bard class, I named all my WoW characters other stuff because it doesn't feel right to name a character "Metranon" unless he is a wood elf bard, and likewise, I never found a class in WoW that I feel as comfortable with as I did my bard in EQ, even my warrior who I raid with.
