Not a big name like Palmeiro but Seatle Mariners pitcher Ryan Franklin suspended 10 days.
From ESPN.com:
Seattle Mariners pitcher Ryan Franklin has received a 10-day suspension under the terms of Major League Baseball's steroids policy.
A day after baseball announced that Baltimore first baseman Rafael Palmeiro had failed his test, Franklin became the eighth player to receive a suspension under MLB's more stringent drug policy, which took effect in March.
The commissioner's office announced the suspension Tuesday afternoon. A representative from Franklin-Frye-McCann agency, which represents Franklin, said the pitcher would talk to the media after 2 p.m. ET in Detroit.
Franklin, 32, has a career record of 33-46 with a 4.19 ERA in six major-league seasons, all with Seattle. He is 6-11 with a 4.61 ERA in 22 games this season, including 20 starts.
"We are very disappointed to learn this news," Mariners spokesman Tim Hevly said. "But at the direction of Major League Baseball, and, following its rules, we are not able to comment further."
Franklin was expected to talk with reporters later Tuesday.
The other major leaguers who have received suspensions for using performance-enhancing drugs this season are Seattle's Jamal Strong, Cleveland's Rafael Betancourt, Minnesota's Juan Rincon, Colorado's Jorge Piedra, Texas' Agustin Montero, and Tampa Bay's Alex Sanchez, who is now playing for the San Francisco Giants.

If your sport didn't suck so much, it wouldn't be so easy to cheat with steroids.

You mean, as opposed to the stringent testing standards in the NBA, where Damon "Bong" Stoudemire has played for years?
Or the testing in hockey? Why, they didn't run a single test last year...

Last I checked weed isn't a performance enhancer and even though it makes the league look bad, it go as far as, let's scrap a decade of stats cause we are a league full of cheaters.
Roids don't really help BBallers or hockey players, cause it's a game of skill and finesse.

Steroids have largely the same benefit for basketball players that they do for baseball players, namely the increased recovery rate from minor daily injuries.

Couldn't be more wrong. Sorry Xao, but Bonds didn't lose his neck because of faster recovery from injury.

Having a large neck doesn't improve plate performance.

Those mammoth arms do. And the fact that he doesn't have to run fast or perform any agile maneuvers whatsoever does.

Even arm strength is a relatively insignificant portion of hitting. It's
all about bat speed and hand-eye coordination. Steroids may even be detrimental to the former, as the added bulk can slow down your twitch speed.

Ive been saying that for awhile Xao. People think that just because you get bigger means you hit the ball farther and harder.

Statistics tend to agree with me on that one.
Unless you think all those roid heads are all taking it easy this year because of the hot weather?

No they don't.

Which "roid heads" exactly?

Players with career years like Bonds, Sosa, Giambi.
Defend your sport all you like, a decade of stats have to be thrown out the window because of cheating. I'm not saying it's just the steroids hitting those balls, but it helps them more than any other sport for the very same reason I don't care for it at all. It requires the least amount of athleticism of any of the other major sports.
Note: I said least, not none.
I'm just glad I didn't grow up watching it so I don't have to defend these goobers on a message board when I know the sport, and the athletes, suck~

You mean the Giambi who's leading the AL in OBP, is third in OPS, ninth in slugging, and just finished hammering 14 home runs in July?
That Giambi? Sosa's been in decline for several years now and hasn't been a top notch hitter in a while. Bonds of course has his knee injury. I have no idea how legitimate that is, and it may well be that he's taking the season off in order to allow his body to adapt to life without steroids: long term abuse will certaintly fuck up your body chemistry.

First of all, basketball is my sport. Secondly, steroids help football players more than any other athlete, with certain track and field specialties coming in second.
Baseball players really have very little to gain from steroids. Those who know the sport far better than I will agree that steroids' primary use in MLB is to help reduce the accumulation of nagging injuries from the 162 game grind.
As far as athleticism goes, baseball doesn't demand that you run as fast, or jump as high as some other sports, but conversely it has a much more demanding physical skill set to be mastered.

My point: baseball sucks because it involves very little athleticism and is susceptible to steroid abuse.
Your Point: Baseball is susceptible to steroid abuse because it requires little athleticism but you need good hand eye coordination.
I think we agree bud. No need to argue.
PS: Baseball sucks.

Not entirely. Baseball was susceptible to steroid abuse due to a lax testing policy. The value of players taking steroids has been vastly blown out of proportion by idiots like Skip Bayless.
I would argue that baseball certaintly demands athleticism, just with a different physical toolkit than, say, basketball.

God I wish I knew more about baseball so I could name drop some dude that has a fat contract and sucks.
But I don't.
But there is one I know it and someone else will say his name I want half credit.

A physical toolkit that is benefited more from steroid abuse.
Round and round me go.

Sorry Zan, your viewpoint is off. From someone that doesnt like or watch baseball your opinion has been skewed by the media.
Your spew out exactly what the media has said. Xao has pretty much hit the nail on the head.

I don't have to watch it Xaiv. I know that steroids help baseball players more than most other sports because of the limited athletic demands of the sport.
That aint skewed. That's true.

Actually, steroids would help an NFL or NHL player more. MLB gets the lions share of the news because the NFL has been hardcore anti steroids since the days of Lyle Alzado.

Sorry Zan you are wrong man. How can you know something if .............
A) you dont play the sport
B) you dont watch the sport
C) you dont like the sport
You sound like Mindia in this thread. You dont watch baseball, but your an expert on how steroids affect the game? You dont play it at a high level, but you know what kind of physical demands it requires of players? You dont like the game so your opinion on it is kind of invalid.
Its like me believing Mindia's view on Catholocism. Skewed, biased, and totally irrational.
