Yikes Im afraid of that. I thought I was just being an old man, standing by my old 1st and 2nd edition rulesets (Drow Cavalier anyone?). Thought about buying the 3rd/3.5rd set, even though i dont play anymore, just to see what the changes are like. Some things Ive heard really scare me though. Am I right that D20 is the only die used now? Please tell me that is wrong. One of the funnest things about DnD was collecting and rolling all sorts of odd dice.

you are wrong

I'd like to go on record that 3rd edition > 2nd or 1st

thank you that is all.

All the weapon dmg is pretty much the same as 2nd edition. Like long swords d8 and short sword d6 and all the stuff, so yes you still need all your dice.

Most of the changes were made to opportunity attack and how many actions you can take in a round. No percentile Str anymore. God I can't remember anything for archaic 2nd edition. A lot of classes changes though, especially to rogues.

No more percentile strenght? Awww

"Hey guys, I really rolled a 00!!"

Good news about the dice though. Glad you guys like 3rd edition, I should check it out.

No feats in second edition now that I think about it.

Man there are some pretty drastic changes to gameplay.

Man I loved thac0. It was like one of my first eureka moments when I was like 11 years old and finally got what it meant.

I find it much easier to get casual gamers with 3.5 than I did with AD&D. It's easier to explain briefly, quicker set-up, the whole thing just makes more sense.

Yea, it's really streamlined now, and not in a bad way.
