Kizzy, I think some still play for the love of playing, but to me it seems most are concerned with how they look to other players and how much they make compared to each other, greed and egos make a bad combo
When you realize how much time was wasted just sitting there looking at a monitor, waiting, doing nothing, when you could be doing so many other things, it's easy to quit.
