What did you do ?

Post by Sirens »

Im not ready to give up eq1 yet..I think....but I cant find anything to do. I log in...go lfg and sososo....Last night I logged on...went lfg ..after 10 mins I decided to take a tour round in WoS..maybe I could find Tínkerbitch err Tinkerbell afk at some bizarre camp......maybe I even would have a million mobs that was agro at me allready and I would not have learned that yet....

Well anyways..got jumped by some bizare Enraged Vicious whathavewe mob...first time I saw that/them in wos...zoned back into MPG with 2hp left ( mainly because i stopped to see what mage'es pet was following me...noticed that mage had like 6 pets..then I got hit and ran)....atleast something interesting happend this nite....

but...still nothing to do...and no..i dont really want to solo in fire to my days end as a bard..

When and how did you know your "time" was up and the "game" was over ?

What did all you retire'es do once you gave up on eq1 ?...delete ? go out with a party or die or camped out in some wierdo place ?

Why waste your time? Do you honestly have time to play that many MMORPG's? Just concentrate on the one you like the most.

I knew EQ was over for me when I didn't have time to raid hard core anymore

After multiple years of raiding, I couldn't go back to being a casual player, so I hung up the daggers, and walked away

The ironic part was that I was still actually really enjoying EQ, and was looking forward to OoW and the new epic quests, etc

Maybe you can just find some other sucker to loan you their account so you can steal the characters.

I agree Kizzy

I was given an account by a middleman. I treated it as that - mine and as given to me. I was proved wrong in fircely defending what I thought was mine and given to me. In short I gave up.
In that (cat)fight alot of bad words and shitty stuff happend.

I sold all my platinum for cash, cancelled my accounts and was done. EQ stopped being "fun" for me a few years ago. I stuck around casually for far too long.

When you would rather shoot yourself in the face with a shotgun then play another second of EQ, you know you are ready to quit. That is how I got the last and final time I quit. I didn't delete, I didn't give away characters, accounts or items / pp, I just stopped logging on. I think it took me what? 27 attempts of quitting before I finally got to that point, EQ is a nasty thing, it sucks, its no fun, yet logging on and playing is like the sun rising, it has to happen every day.

One day i was sitting there soloing while being LFG, and said to myself...

"Self, im really bored all the fun is gone out of the game. Why do you log on anymore?"

I couldnt actually answer myself, there was no reason (outside of the people) to log on and play anymore. That was it, ran up to VP because that is the one zone in the game i hadnt seen (had the key forever), had alittle fun roaming around and dodging dragons. Sat at the IZ and said thats it. I told everyone goodbye, and ive kept in touch on the boards. That is where Xaiveir is sitting still, at the IZ of VP.

When you are done, you will know it. The game just didnt hold that "luster" for me anymore.

I thought about selling my character, back when 65 was the cap. Had 298 AA, could have netted some money for the ranger. I just couldnt see someone running around as me, so there he sits still on an expired account.

maybe it's different for me or something, but after i deleted drem in 2001 i was away for about two and a half years and came back with a new guy in what, to me, was a completely different game. i'd suggest try just not playing for a few months and come back, but things probably wouldn't be as drastically different as quitting in velious era and coming back in PoP era...

but, i don't know, eq1 is the only game i can play nowadays. it's literally the only game i can play now on a regular basis. i can't play xbox or anything much and i can't play any other computer game for more than 15 minutes without deleting it. maybe something's wrong with me @@

Me making almost $2000 on playerauctions was also another deciding factor...and I still own my account.

I just let my account expire. I have tossed around the idea of selling Adivina for a long time, but I just can't see someone else playing her.

i am giving all my shit away related to that antiquated game, and kicking ass on a new one.. With all these new games out I am really surprised people are still playing EQ1.

eq1 is gay people. GAY. get the fuck over it.
Tossica: No, you're gay because you suck on cocks.

Darcler:
Get rid of the pictures of the goofy looking white guy. That opens two right there.

For me -

It was when I woke up and realized that raiding had become more of a *chore* than something I actually *wanted* to do that I decided it was time to move on. Well, that compounded with the fact that my friends list dwindled (over the years) to practically nill...

It was odd - EQ was the first MMORPG that I had ever played (before this I was hooked on Quake and Team Fortress / Unreal / so on)... so there was a certain magic that I found in running around Nek as a naked level 1 SK.

Something else that turned me off was that I noticed through the evolution of EQ 1 the attitudes of people changed - or perhaps the newer crops of players were just *worse* than the older crowd that I had *grown up* with. People were no longer focused on logging on and hanging out with friends, trying new things and having a general good time - now people were more focused on becoming as uber as quickly as possible. Fun was replaced with the pursuit of loot and levels and on a much grander *Norrath wide* scale.

Also, I think EQ just got to big for it's own good. To many expansions, to many changes, and just to much *junk* thrown in it. I would have been perfectly happy with SoL being the last expansion - hell I would have loved to have made enother char (completely unrelated to an SK / Rogue) and started over... but....

Anyway, the attitudes of people, the loss of friends through quitting, and lack any desire to spend 8 hours raiding (when I could be out getting laid, working out, or doing something else) ultimately put the last few nails in the coffin for me.

EQ2 is new, and no one really knows what to fully expect yet. Altough, it doesn't, nor will ever, hold the same magic that EQ 1 did - it is still a pretty bad ass game that I do indeed plan on playing for quite some time - so long as real life allows.

For me it was the prospect of the new games coming out.

I gave Ginzburgh to a RL friend, who moved him to Rallos Zek, changed his name and is probably PK'ing (or getting PK'd) as I type this.

True, Sirens. Not that it matters really, I was actually awarded his account in the divorce, and I sacced her from 62 to 46. I'm evil. At least after all this time you admitted you were wrong, even if it was over a misunderstanding. I can respect that. Thank you.

I just didn't feel like logging in anymore, had more important things to do. Logged back on once since then and transferred guildleadership over.

For me it was logging in because I didn't want to disappoint my friends and guildmates. After sitting in ToV for several hours, I decided I was done. I sold my account and was done with it.

Now's I'm playing EQ2 and loving it. I login do a little something and camp out, I don't need to play 8 hours every damn night (but I can haha). It's all still new so that's keeping it fun but I imagine I'll get bored like before.

yes EQ2 is good for that...small fast sessions.

that applies to LDON though too..

what puts me off in EQ2..atleast on Mistmoore are all the morons that dont know that a group can exist also after a little wipe, after 20 minutes, that debt is a no biggie - or just plain sucks.
