Crash to desktops the last two days...

Postby Lyion » Fri Dec 03, 2004 9:55 am

The last few days I've been playing, I've been getting WOW.exe crashes to the desktop...

Anyone else seeing these, and is there a fix or just a new bug that Blizzard needs to patch?

I'm using CosmosUI..Could that be the culprit?

a patch or 3 ago something was introduced to eq2.

many Nvidia users...especially Nvidia6800 were hit hard on a "stuttering image" problem..I was aswell on my old videocard.
Dotn think that problem have been resolved yet.

changed card and drivers aswell...all have been fine.

I may be clueless ..but try to reinstall latest vid-drivers, defrag hard disk, scan for virus, trojans and spyware. delete and reinstate windows swap file, patch XP to latest stage, move swapfile away from drive where wow resides.

This box has a 6800 but it hasnt caused me any issues.

It seems to happen when I loot. It crashed me with an ACCESS_VIOLATION.

I'm really curious if Cosmos could be the reason. I may try and play without it <which would suck>

you could try uninstalling cosmos then reinstalling it. It worked for me and the crashing got alot more infrequent.

Could very well be Cosmos. If I don't open WoW the same way everytime (open Cosmos directly from inside the WoW folder) Cosmos will cause the game to freeze upon load and I will have to delete my entire UI and customization folder and redownload it all. Its a good program but a very picky one.

if that doesnt work, try deleting your .wtf and interface options folder, and re run. Thats what they had me do when I would crash when turning in quests.
