It's not really what you think it is...

I was VERY disappointed during the trial weekend. It's pretty much like a more advanced Diablo/EQ mix only not as many items and slower paced.

hmm...well...WoW has my next $'s anyways .. ( atleast for a test ). I like the idea of WoW not being so much CPU and Video hungry so I infact should be able to play it decently on my issued laptop.

Also as mentioned by Taxx.. the Battlegrounds looks very interesting. Can pvp when one want to to.

sirens NCsoft has only let beta weekend people only check out 20 % of the game. They have yet to add items areas, other content.

its a game for those that like the idea of a huge world like EQ, who didn't like the stupidness of rushing mobs, and spending years tryin to get the top level. And from going from raiding and spending all that time... to this game... its a great.

they have only let 17 maps be able to be used by beta and thats around 30% of the maps.

your just missing Uber loot in this game. Thats it. oh and huge 30-40 person raids.

I love the missions they have. Its would be something fun for a break from WoW. For me it will be my fulltime game heh.

I'm playing WoW on a Pentium M 1.4ghz 512 ddr ram 32mb radeon 9000 mobility video card. It lags a lot in towns, but other than that it is fine.

I average 30-35FPS with an Athlon 1800 (1.6ghz) 1gig ram and Ti4200 overclocked.

I have to say though that Guildwars also ran smooth until huge fights on my machine. I don't know how to explain it but the graphics on websites for the game look amazing but they look really weird in game...maybe it's just me.

your right taxx GWs looks kinda wierd when you play it. The screenshots might be touched up. But again i am not playing with all the graphics up. it lags cause all the damn mobs have skills that have casting like lag. And they use them like players so you have like 3-4 back to back and with like 4 mobs doing that and 6 players all hitting back to back to back to back spells and other skills ... alot of lag happens.

i liked this game a lot on the first beta weekend. i thought the graphics were great, and if it's free then i'm happy with what this has to offer.

does it require the timesink to level? how many levels are their? or is it still in Beta? I think this might be an alternative to EQ/WOW since i am having a kid soon

IMO I'd call it an alternative to Diablo 2 if you play that. I wouldn't compare it to EQ or WoW.

20 levels... took me 24 hours to get to lvl 13 (eventho i think they will change that a bit but who knows). so its not that big of a time sink.. to get all the stuff to get the best armor and weapons.. is the time sink but even then.... not that big of one but will take a little time. It is a great game for downtimes in EQ2/WoW or whatever. If you don't have time for those for a month or 2 then this is perfect

its still in beta.. they are still making changes to certain things and adding content. they just changed their GUI yesterday i think it was

no kill stealing , more skill involved

a single player game. its instanced.. as in you go thru an area kill everything. Exit the game reenter and everything is up again. There are magic, rare and unique items.... unique being uber (for the most part) etc.

sorta like baldur's gate but more loot oriented and not as good hehe.

      GW is good tho.

Its a roleplaying game, with no roleplaying. All loot, killing, and levelling.

Sort of like Taxx's definition of perfection would be, if it were an MMO.

There is a lot of Blizzard influence in it, and its fun, but not in depth.

GWs as of now doesn't have UBER items... and if they did they aren't crazy good like in EQ. They would be a tad better than normal weapons and rares.

Its a fun game.. but its not like EQ at all. If you like PvP then your set with GWs...the PvE part of the game is cool also but its a love or hate it thing. I love the PvE (includes missions). Some people want to get to level 20 asap to PvP up to you.

My definition of perfection would be WoW plus the EQ Velious expansion faction system and 50 different versions of ToV with not just dragons. There, perfection.

There is pvp in WoW. Everything WoW has plus the good parts from EQ (endless raids) would be perfection for me. Always having something fun to kill...

not like baldur's gate at all. baldur's gate is actually challenging and it's completely story-driven.

Its really half baked, and I'm sure Blizzard has good ideas, but for now their PVP system sucks.
