Reaction to EQ2

Postby Kaeerwen » Thu Dec 23, 2004 3:48 pm

Twice now, my machine has rebooted while playing EQ2... my video card is a piece (Radeon9200), and I was wondering if that may have something to do with it... heat maybe? Or is my machine just allergic?

I've taken off the side panel, and put a fan next to it that I turn on while playing in an attempt to fix it. It hasn't done it since... yet.

This sucks!

Mine has done this too. But it hasn't happened to my hub. I personally think I need another fan in there.

I've been told that the game's caused heat problems for others too, which wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. I just want to be sure that's what the problem is, and that I don't have a dying machine on my hands. ><

Have you added new ram recently?

I had a problem just like that when I added a bad stick on accident. Sometimes things will work just fine, but as soon as it tries to drop some data into the active memory.

No, I haven't changed any internal hardware in a year and a half, unfortunately. My HDD is corrupting itself though, which is... well, not good. Think I've got that more or less contained for now though.

If it only reboots while playing EQ2, then thats the culprit.

Make sure you have the latest and greatest video drivers.

Thanks... I did update the drivers last night before pulling out the vacuum and leaving the side panel off, just in case... It hasn't happened since then, but I just wanted a second opinion. If it happens again, I'll probably come here to bitch about it.
