Error #132

Postby Demius » Thu Dec 30, 2004 6:42 pm

This elusive bug is pissing me off, because I can't figure out what is causing it.

I had played with no problems for upwards of 2 to 3 weeks, and yesterday (Dec 29th) I started recieving crashing problems that resulted in Error #132. I have no idea what it is, so I uninstalled and re-installed WoW ... No problems for the first 3 hours or so.. then i do a /who and crash to desktop with the SAME problem. I can't log in to see if the problem continues due to the servers not letting me on, so this is very frustrating. Blizzard tech support forums are no help, they have known about this since closed beta, but apparently the problem is pretty big and they suggest updating drivers and stuff.. but if i have never experienced this problem until yesterday, why would it be my drivers? No patch yesterday.. any ideas?

My mobo is old, Abit though, not an NForce. There are only a few things i can think of;

1) hard drive failing (trying to scandisk / defrag and install on my other HD)
2) Virus in my system (i've had some restart problems, comp restarting at random times, but never while I was ingame)
3) some type of memory issue, but I dont understand why this would be the situation since i've been playing for 2 to 3 weeks with no problems.

i get that error too but only when i log out now. I used to get random hangs the first few weeks but that has seemed to go away.

I have had some lockup problems related to over-clocking my video card. It would either just lock up (mouse cursor would still move - but everything else was locked tight) or drop me to desktop with the WoW error reporter.

If you overclock, trying tuning it down a touch. I knocked about 25% of my overclocking down and haven't had the problem any more.

I received an email from tech help, with many suggestions, one of them said NOT to overclock because the game is designed to push your stuff to the extreme. I'll post the email, maybe it will help.

I still overclock - just not as much as before. I'm running about 70% core OC and 15% memory OC (as I recall)

Well guys.. I've reformatted my computer, wiped it CLEAN, installed WoW, same error. Looks like i'll be stuck at 39 for a while.

Another nasty issue with my computer has just pop'd up, and im tired of this POS so i'm going to goto gateway or dell and pick up the lowest shit of a computer they have that will still run WoW... anyone have any recommendations? I can always take out my video card from this computer and put it into the dell / gateway, so im thinking of just getting one of their "value pc" sets.

Operating System: Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2
Processor: Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor 505 (2.66GHz)
Memory: 512MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM (333MHz) ........ [+US$65.00]
Sound System: SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS Sound Card
Chipset: Intel® 915GV Chipset
Expansion Slots: 2 x PCI Expansion Slots (1 slot available)
Video: Integrated Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 900 with up to 128MB shared DDR memory <- anyone know any details?

The Video: is the only one I dont know, if it would even work with WoW or not. ALthough i can always put in my old video card. Would this computer be good enough to run WoW? (thinking more of the RAM and video, as everything else is an upgrade to my current computer minus the soundcard)

That video card will take 128mb from your ram right off the bat. That is 100% shit, and I highly suggest you stay away from it.

Even disabled that video card (on board) will likely still take the 128megs from your 512.

Remember I am not looking at a computer that will do everything, I am looking for a computer that will play WoW effectivly, as this current computer can do everything else I need.

Given that information, how about this option? This is the most amnt of money I would spend, and will not go any higher.

Processor: Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor 520 (2.8GHz)
Memory: 512MB DDR SDRAM PC3200 (400MHz), Dual Channel
Video: ATI RADEON® X300SE with 128MB DDR Video Memory and TV Out
Sound System: SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS Sound Card
Chipset: Intel® 915G Chipset
Controller: Integrated Ultra ATA Controller
Expansion Slots: (1) PCI-E x16 Expansion Slot, (1) PCI-E x1, (2) PCI in which 1 is available for use

So, I sent an email to bliz tech support saying that I updated all my drivers, reinstalled the game on both of my HD's (to make sure it wasn't a failing hard drive) and even reformatted and did the same... still got the error. They then send me an email saing to; reinstall the game, get all updated drivers, etc etc.. ?!!? Do u guys have a standard response or do you just not read the first email sent?

Anyway, i did some tests and think my problems were resulting from a bad stick of memory. Why they started now and not when i put the memory in over 6 months ago... i'll never know. But the game finally installed again, im installing the patch, and if all goes well, i'll be 40 by the end of the night!! (and i didn't have to buy a new comp... yet) So cross your fingers folks, if this works and i dont crash again, i may be back sooner then expected! :)
