Ok, had an interesting discussion with a friend about the definition of "bandwagon."
As far as I was always concerned a banwaggoner was one who changed teams year to year to favor who ever it was that happened to win the Super Bowl, the World Series, Stanley Cup whatever....
It seems though that most people believe that a banwaggoner is anyone who changes teams... I don't quite understand this. So, apparently once you select a team you can never change to a different, ever? LOL that's the stupidest thing I've heard in a long time.
So, what are the rules for changing teams? One can only change teams if the team of choice is having a losing season?
I've been a Buffalo fan for ohhh about 15 years or so, but I have to admit there are a lot of other teams out there that I follow as well - including NE. A lot of Buffalo fans have a love hate relationship with the Pats... we love them most of the time and hate them when they beat us (which is every year).
Then I hear a lot of guys talking about sticking to their team like it's a badge of honor. Who cares? I mean really? Why does everyone feel the need to justify their position with their team by pointing out that they were with them through thick and thin?
I was VERY tempted to buy a Pats hat the other day... but refrained. Not because I'm now suddenly a Pat's fan, but because I support them on their way to the Super Bowl and believe they will win it yet again. Everyone who knows me, knows I am a Bills fan, and thus getting caught in that hat would bring on much hazing.
Well all have our teams and we all have reasons for why we chose the teams we do - I just don't undestand the reason why it seems almost taboo to change your team at any given point in time.
If you're one who changes hats to match which ever team wins their respective championship then yes - you're a banwaggoner... however if you change teams for you own reasons - then I don't see why that's a *problem.*
