but Velious had that dwarf dragon giant story which i liked.

Yeah...the faction thing was the icing on the cake for me.

See, now that was a negative in my book, because we were promised from day 1 of Velious that there'd be equal rewards for each faction that you stuck with, or at least Giant faction and Dragon faction would be equal, which was, of course, utterly untrue. I can't tell you how frustrating it got trying to gear up and get into Sleepers Tomb while staying loyal to Dragon faction. Ultimately, we gave up and went to the ever popular "If it moves and drops loot, kill it" faction, and things improved dramatically.

I do think Kunark was a better expansion than velious, given how drastically it changed the game from how it was before, and how seamless it was. Of course, there being no high-level monk armor set was a pisser, but you can't have everything. Veeshan's Peak was quite the worthy raid zone, too. Especially once you "Got enough keyed force to hold the inzone" We were 3rd serverwide to kill Phara Dar, which I was pretty proud of, actually, considering how hard PD was to kill at the time, and how far behind the other major guilds we'd gotten due to the issues we had with crashes every time we tried Trakanon. (finally got SOE to have a bunch of the hardware people come watch us as we did him, and they found something wrong with the server. They fixed that, we went to wave assault, and boom, we won.)

the faction was crapola.. the story was kinda cool. I agree we eventually went to the "its moving, kill the thing" faction. I still think dain was harder than Tormax or NToV (minus trains and stuff)

Never got to see VP. My favorite Raid zone oddly enough was Seru (eventho it was only for keys for Seru) Large zone, goofy names i didn't like which made you want them dead heh.

But alas i quit before really gettin to explore the snake temple place, before seeing Seru, or that Vex Thall or whateer the place was, the place eveyrone wanted to get to when Luclin was new.

Ssra was a cool raidzone i thought, was fun in much the same way that Nwing was, but just didn't quite have the killing dragons mystique to it for me.

Seru I hated, but that was mostly because the colours in there just really made my eyes go wonky

I really liked the gnome of own in there tho, that would respond to swears with his own cut downs and flames

always made for some good entertainment

after velious, the lore just kind of disappeared from the mainstream game, and it just went downhill from there.

you didn't miss much in Vex thall

just close your eyes and have someone repeatedly kick you in the nuts, and you can say you experience VT

LOL i thought that in that zone with all the mobs that looked lik Vex Thall stuff ahekva? was a kick in the nuts.. boring and retarded placement of 10 chealing mobs near a goofy lookin named.

i agree with the lore part. After that it became crap.. in luclin. and i don't kno about the planes of power and such or anything after.

that stupid gnome was funny. We all were like wtf is a GM here (this was the first time we saw him) funny stuff

If you want VT, just go into Akheva and fight nothing but Rubble Rousers for 8 hours.

I do have to admit though, before the raid window, VT was some darn good xp when you made groups and put yourself with a bard and 3 wizards =D.

VT is exactly what tikker said.

And if you were a cleric, you really only had to do something every few seconds or so. So the kicking in the nuts is more profound with nothing else to take your attention.

Shei was a fight I actually really liked, along with the burrower beast in The Deep

they were neat encounters with a fairly specific strat to beat them

but why were we killing them?

i dunno, cause they had phat lewts i guess

the luclin lore was just fucking gay

Planes of Power brought back some of the cool lore, but the way the expansion ended was just fucking gay *well, we couldn't think of a better ending so.....um.......bam, you've been mezzed and forgot everything, go back to square 1 and kill them all again!*

IV, Mall?

... and just to be a black sheep, I rather enjoyed OoW. The raid instances in MPG were very well done... hated RS with a fucking passion and 50% of the other new zones... but MPG's raid instances were great.

If you want to experience VT like we did, just go run up to a group of high level KOS mobs, then turn your monitor off. After 15 seconds, you can turn it on again. If you're somehow still alive, wait 5 sec, then turn it off again for another 15 sec. Oh, about half the time your monitor is off, don't type any keys, to simulate being stunned. Repeat for 4-6 hours, with pauses to rez yourself repeatedly.

There you go! You too have now been to VT!

My gods, but that place was a festering shitpile. The ONLY thing remotely enjoyable were the mass death runs, where we dragged corpses from dead boss to safe spot near next boss through the fully spawned dungeon, hoping that at least 1 monk or SK would survive to use a Vox staff on a cleric corpse. I had to pull there too, so I died 2-3x as much as anyone else. Ugh.
