Spurs/Suns game

Was fucking oustanding..

Best NBA game I've seen in years. Granted I only watch a dozen games a year, but I'm getting reeled back in.

Tim Duncan is sooo fucking good... it's easy to forget how easily things change when he's on the bench.

Ya'll know that the Spurs have won 70% of their regular season games since they drafted him? This team is way too good... dynasty in the making even.

thats one thing i might not agree with. Most teams are starting to play the up and down game.. and are givin the spurs probs. Remember Kings, Seattle, and i thnk Pheonix have already beat them once.

I think in a couple years they won't be what they are. Having Manu helps them alot. He is of the run and gun ilk. But Tim is being able to be defended by Webber which is not a good sign. He isn't athletic enough to run up and down. Thats how people beat the lakers when Shaq was playing. Run then into the ground.

The pistons did the same last year. Get a rebound run it down their throats

Phenoix and Seattle are gonna be the future.. thats why the kings snagged Mobely for the his athlectic ability. And their Defense has already gotten better.

I still favor the Spurs, but not like i did earlier.

Wtf, you are lumping Detroit with Sac, Seattle and Phoenix? Detroit may have a nice fast-break but they are as far from 'run-n-gun' as you will find in the league.

Please... 9 months ago, every single team was talking about how they are trying to change their team to be more like Detroit... a gritty, DEFENSE FIRST, hard-working team with great chemistry. Coming into the start of this season, the top teams in the prediction polls were all defense-first teams... Indiana, Detroit, San Antonio and Minnesota. All of the sudden Nash transforms a young and athletic team into a shoot-first, defend later Dallas2.0 and you people act like they are the fucking second coming.

News flash: Dallas and Sacramento have been playing this way for nearly a decade. Where has that gotten us both? The furthest we've seen was the Western conf finals, and that happened to be our lowest scoring, best defending squad in 5 years. Coincidence?

There will be no 'great-awakening' in the NBA in regards to a focus of offense UNLESS Stern makes those "let's score more" rules that the NBDL has been toying with. Offense sells posters, defense sells playoff tickets and "NBA Finals" T-shirts. Phoenix just proved to the whole league how fake they are when ONE PLAYER doomed them. It wasn't even a SMALL change like when Dirk went down for 3 games in December... their PPG dropped by THIRTY.

Defense wins championships... Phoenix might figure this out in a couple years, but they won't be there this year. I'll give Seattle and Sacramento that nod WAY before Phoenix.

Also... Christie is 200x the defender of Mobley. You are smoking the finest columbian crack if you believe otherwise... and that's a total shame.. a knock on one of your finest players for years. That'd be like me knocking Finley if we traded him for someone younger... You can't judge Mobley's impact on the Kings after 1 week. Webb should probably be Western Conf player of January, even though I could probably argue Dirk over him... yet again... and WEBBER's improved game is the reason Sac has suddenly become such a powerhouse again... not Mobley. That's selling Chris short.

San Antonio, Dallas and Sacramento are the best 3 teams in the West for playoff contention. Seattle and Phoenix have 5 players that play 3 and a half quarters of ball every game. You think that energy will last to the end of the season? I'll tell you from experience that Nash's sure as hell won't... San Antonio is the #1 team in the league, and Timmie has NEVER played less minutes IN HIS LIFE. How's that for depth? Sacramento is fucking SCARY again with their depth. Dallas is constantly mentioned as possibly the *deepest* team in the league, especially considering the fact that we keep winning with both Marquis Daniels and Eric Dampier sidelined for so long. Chemistry, Defense and Depth will win the finals. Sac and Dallas have 2 of the 3, San Antonio has all 3... *and* they are a fucking potent offensive force. How the hell can you defeat that?

i didn't say christie was bad.. but did you watch christie play while with sac this year? Bruce Bowan lit him up.. no names lit him up. He didn't come with the energy as he did before.

Sorry Mobley is averagin like 3 steals with the kings in 5 games.. chistie i don't think had more than 4 in 5 games this year. Look at the numbers, FG% is way down from where it was with christie, assists are up, blocks are up.

I wasn't sayin run and gun is back in.. i am sayin its startin to sway that way. Whether it hooks everyone is a different story.. for fans it will for coaches maybe not.

Wasn't comparing Detriot to any running team.. read what i said again, they used the fast break off the good D to run the lakers into the ground.

Phoenix should've beat San Antonio and can play with them toe to toe.

The finals are a simple matter of who's peaking, with who injured, and who's hot, IMO.

can't be a MVp when you can't play ANY defense :)

the reason they lost is Q couldn't hit a fuckin shot if his life depended on it.. he was like 25% for those 6 games.

yeah, but Nash has a better chance of winning the championship than Lebron. The Suns was the best team playing before Nash was hurt. Now i think they lost 5 out 6 or something like that.

They lost to San Antonio with Nash.

It's a game they should have won though. They were up by 15+ points at one point.

They match up decently with San Antonio, I think.

No, they don't. The Cavaliers are just playing a really good game. Murphy and Richardson are studs.

I'm watching the same game.

Wrong.

San Antonio fucking destroyed them when they were riding an eleven game winning streak... *with* Nash. And then last night, San Antonio wins again...

SA is top 5 in like... every defensive category you can have... they are beating their opponents by 10.85 points a game. If that continues to the end of the season, that will be the 4th best IN THE HISTORY OF THE NBA.

I hate to talk about 'another' teams effeciency like this... but San Antonio is a freaking machine lately...

They are ...
#2 in opponent FG% (allowed)
#2 in opponent 3P% (allowed)
#1 in opponent PPG (allowed)
#1 in opponent APG (allowed)
#1 in assists per game difference (team by team comparison)
#4 in opponent rebounds (allowed)
#2 in rebounds per game difference (team by team comparison)
#1 in blocks per game
#5 in blocks against
#2 in blocks per game difference (team by team comparison)

That's freaking unfuckingbelievably outstanding. Keep in mind that their best player is averaging nearly 4 minutes less per game than his career average. They are doing all of this DESPITE saving Tim's energy for the playoffs! How the hell can we compete with that??

yeps.. thats why they are still my pick for champion. Though if the kings D gets a tad better.. the Kings could make a run and MAYBE (probably not but) MAYBE beat them.

Kings match up with the spurs better than any other top 4 western conference team.

both teams aren't great athletically, both can run a bit, both can play D when needed (look last game between the kings and spurs) Kings shut them down, as the spurs did to the kings.

Webber and Duncan most of the time play to a tie (both stop each other for the most part). Same with Tony and Bibby, neither can stop each other so they both cancel each other out.

The difference is Peja and Manu. Peja has never really been on in the playoffs for more than a couple games in a row.. one good playoffs series from Peja, kings beat the Spurs.

Manu doesn't score as much but more consistant. But with Mobely at least someone can stay in front of him sometimes.

most of the games have been close over the years. 2 years ago, 3 games were 2-5 point wins, years before each team would have a blow out and a close win.

Thats why i fear pheonix and seattle, they play better D than the Mavs did and do now (when needed) and they are very athletic. Yes the suns lost to the Spurs, seattle beat them. The reason pheonix loses is Nash can't guard anyone.

Athletic teams in some form have always given the kings and spurs probs.

And having Tony parker as erratic as he is .. good to bad from game to game.. spurs are beatable.. just have to play ENOUGH D to beat them.

The spurs are so far above the next best team this year.

If Miami doesn’t make a late season trade, you might see the spurs run the entire playoffs.

Suns, Dallas, Seattle, Sac all have good teams, but they don’t have playoff teams.

Brent Barry has barely played because they are so deep, robert horry has been injured all year. This is the most talented team. This is the deepest team. This is the best team.

Considering the core players are locked up for 4+ years each we could see a real dynasty here. I expect Cleveland to be the next big team but there still a few years away. Until then, it's all spurs.
