Stand in a long line to meet a player of your favorite team and ask for an autograph?

Me? I wouldn't. I think it's silly for grown men and women to act that way. Just an opinion and I mean no offense to anyone who might.

I think it's one thing to bump into a player of your team (like at the airport or something) and say hello and offer your appretiation to them. However, I think it's another to actually go stand in a 4 hour line just to meet them... I guess I have a hard time understanding why a grown man, or woman would ask another grown man or woman for an autograph.

What do you think?

Depends on who it is, and the purpose to which you're putting the autograph. I know collectors will sometimes pay $$$ for something signed by an athlete or other celebrity. Why, I dunno, but I bet if you look on E-Bay, you'll find a bunch of stuff.

The only autograph I ever got was from Roger Craig, on a 49ers hat, and that was cause he happened to come by where I worked for a meeting, and I got to meet him and chat a bit prior to the meeting. Happened to have a 49ers hat with me, and asked him if he'd be willing to sign it.

Oh, I can kinda see going and seeing an author to get a signed copy of a book I really like, assuming I could actually talk to them for a bit about the book and their other works. But again, that's more for the chance to talk to them about something they wrote that I enjoy more than it is about the autograph.

No. I'd wait to speak with Stephen Hawking, but not to get an autograph from a sports figure.

I'm not much of an autograph person.

Half the time I meet a bandmember or such (you'd be surprised by how often someone "famous" will be just walking around at a concert by themselves) I don't ask for a signature I'd rather just have a chat.

Example:

Ozzfest, go get a signature from Munkey and Head from Korn, or go to E.Town Concrete's tent?

I went and hung out with E.Town for a good hour, only a handful of people were there in comparison to the 3 hour line for the others. They just got added to the bill that day and they didn't even have a tour bus etc. They were following Ozzfest around in a van.

P.S. Anthony is one big motherfucker (lead singer)

Depends who it is. If it is Cal Ripken Jr. or Dan Marino, I would wait a day to meet them and get their autographs.

I have bought some of their memorabilia autograph'd, but getting it signed by them personally is so much better.

I still don't think I would do it. Even if it was Jim Kelly I don't think I would actually wait in a long line just to say, "Wow I'm a huge fan, would you sign this card for me?"

I mean THAT just seems so artificial... I'd rather run into him at an airport, or some thing, pay my respects and shake his hand... not that would ever happen, but anyway.

I have been within 10 feet of OJ Simpson twice in my life, several actresses, a couple porn stars and many many pro athletes, I never felt the need to ask them. I agree with Diekan, and to me it felt a little gay. Well except the porn stars, I asked for their autograph on my dick from their lip stick, couldn't get one to do it though.

Oh yeah, and when I was a craps dealer at the Mirage, I dealt dice to Larry Flynt, I wanted his autograph, but my boss wouldn't let him slip me anything, and the mean old fuck wouldn't wait 35 minutes til my break.

I don't think I would bother them in an airport or in a public place... That really has to get annoying some times.

I've met a couple in random places but the only ones I talked too I had to talk to for work -
