I go to the doctor for my quarterly shot on THursday, I'm going to mention the bleeding (which is still occuring) but I am sure that is a side effect of the Depo. I will also mention the migraines, but I think he is going to say its the insane amount of stress I am under. I feel like I have a baseball sized tumor in the back of my head. I'm not kidding. And it throbs.

Oh and Vonkaar, I went with a realtor to lunch and we were talking about the migraines, and she said she got them too, but started taking Topamax, and she lost 10 pounds in 1 week, and she hasn't gotten a migraine since she started taking it. Now, as I stare at my ass, I am all for the weight loss, but 10 pounds in one week is kind of scary don't you think?
She also said that she can have a customer in fronmt of her drawing up a contract and forget she put her pen behind her ear, or trail off in mid sentence. In my buisiness, that's kind of scary too.
Just thought I would share. I'm off to a good night's sleep on the couch, including a stiff neck and sore back TTFN

Kizzy I think you need a day at the spa
Your bleeding makes sense if your on depo too, either you bleed non stop or you dont bleed ever. I was lucky and never had my period for the 2 years I took it (and also a year after I stopped taking it)
But anyway, I think you need a day of pampering, you sound like you need it sweetie.

I don't know how long you've been on the shot and if you like it or not, but omg I hated it. I had a series of four, and thought I'd give it a year to do it's thing, but my mood swings were terrible, I could feel myself getting depression and I spotted for weeks after each shot. My libido was virtually gone and that isn't normal at ALL.
When your body thinks it's pregnant all the time, and it's not, it's not very good for you. Since I let the last time pass, and decided not to get the shot again, I feel like a real woman again. I feel amazing now, periods are normal, I only feel irritable when I'm cramping and my libido came back too!
anyway, I hope it's not like that for you and I hope you're going to be okay

It doesn't fall off too easy as long as you prepare the area right - have to wash it with non-moisturizing soap so there is no oil residue to make it stick good.
I'm sure you wanted to know that.
Personally, I don't trust the patch any better than I trust myself to remember to take pills everyday. Plus, I hate bandaids. This wouldn't be any better.

Based on the fact that you are just getting them now and you always drank caffine and smoked you should see a specialist. Migranes are serious and they need to be treated. You probably should get an MRI or CT to make sure nothing else is wrong. Then after that they can look at treating you with medication. My guess is they will probably also suggest you cut back on the caffine and smoking. Migranes suck. I've had a few in my life but nothing on a regular basis. My boss is a nurse and also has them. She does take medication and it helps her function on a day to day basis.

Ok , I got my depo shot today, and was told it may make me gain weight!
If I diet and exercise still it shouldnt effect my weight loss plans right? I wasnt sure if they meant ladies that dont do shit will get fat or anyone that takes it has the risk of getting fat no matter what. Any of you that take depo, did you gain weight? I took it back in highschool and dont member gaining weight but cant say that I didnt (was a while back)

My doctor told me that if you aren't overweight to start with then you shouldn't have any trouble. She said that most black women gain weight than white women, I didn't gain any weight the year that I was on the shot, I'm sure you'll be okay, it sounds like you're taking care of yourself anyway.
Birth control as a whole, at least ones that have hormones (pill, shot, patch) in them are (imo) the worst thing to do to a woman. I chose not to get back on it because I am a smoker and it increases your chances of getting cancer when you are on birth control and are a smoker, as if I need to drive that nail any deeper...and because of the other reasons I mentioned. I feel way too awesome since getting off of it to be convinced any other way.
but then again we all know what condoms are like and I guess we'll have to see
