PvP or PvE
Just wondering how the PvE plays v. the PvP. I play on a PvP server becasue it seems like it would be boring to play PvE but on the other hand it can be frustrating sometimes. comments?
You'd be surprised. We pvp much more than you think we do...just on our own terms.
It's quite ridiculous when the pvp players use the carebear excuse to why other people suck. Sometime I wish I was on pvp server just so I could make a few people shut the fuck up.
I gaurantee that I pvp as much as you do or quite possibly even moreso...I just don't have to worry about being ganked at 20% health after a fight.

There is almost constant PVP'ing occuring on our PVE server. The PVE content is excellent of course, so it would seem you have the best of both worlds.

there's a shitton of PvP on the PVE servers
the difference?
You don't have to do it if you don't want to
You don't get ganked for just going around collecting tradeskill shit
there are times where I wish it was PvP all the time, but there's 57607602672306702623 more times where I"m glad I can walk away to check on the baby/get milk/blow my nose/whatever and not get PK'd just for not paying attention for a minute

I think half the fun of PVP is when there's risk involved. If PVP is always on fair terms then it is carebear shit. There's no fight for territory or calling in of reinforcements. I think it would be pretty fucking lame to be fighting in the same area as the opposition and then have to request their authorization to attack them ;(
One thing that PVP servers breed far and away over PVE is the intensity of the fighting because you're never really given the opportunity to just mill around while the opposition is around. 99% of the time it's kill or be killed.
I'm not saying that PVEers suck, I'm just saying that it isn't half as fun on a PVE server. If you don't deal well with frustration, stay away from PVP because it can get really ugly. Other than that, constant risk/danger = constant fun IMO.
also: I executed a Gnome mage for 1947 today and he didn't even see it coming

I tried a pvp server for the first time in wow and was expecting it to be intense and full of pvpers or something. Honestly after I came back from holidays and was significantly behind the leveling curve, I exped 52-60 outdoors without getting ganked even once as far as I can remember :/. Archimonde was supposed to be the hardcore pvp server or something stupid so it might be different there i guess.
yeah, I'm on Archimonde but I'm not about to make generalizations and say that we're the most hardcore or something, because I haven't tried another PVP server so I don't know. I get ganked all the time, but that's just a part of the game.
The one thing I can say about Archimonde is that it's laggy as shit and I hope by some miracle it gets better soon.

You mean just like how the people generalize about the PVE servers and are wrong 99% of the time?
We don't all hold hands frolicking through the Wetlands with a group of Alliance by our side.

You mean it's not a race to get to 60 and then mass gank n00bs?
Outside of the inability to grief, what is the difference between WOW PVP and regular servers?
Don't say danger, as there is no penalty for dying in WOW worth piss.

well for example:
last night we were doing a temple run, before we get in the instance, i spotted a group of alliance on track so we all hid around a corner, the group runs ahead and we engage, battle for a bit, they die, and we move on. nothing special there, just costing them some time and group pvp is fun :@
doing an escort quest in a contested area is always fun
fearing the last member of an alliance group before he goes into the inner maraudon portal is always a hoot
corpse camping the asian farmers in azshara
generally the group on group stuff pre-instance stuff is always alot of fun, can be frustrating if you lose but it's all in good nature
and yeah, there is an element of danger, dying isn't a big deal but the time it takes away is
there's not much ganking going on on my server, occasionally you'll get some high levels running around a lvl 20-30 zone, but then the low levels call their high level friends and that's the end of that (or then it escalates into a big thing where one faction raids the other town, but i'm sure city raids happen on PVE servers too)
but generally when i'm out grinding i don't get ganked or even attacked, when i see alliance we just /wave and that's that
i mean, currently there's no real "point" to it. it's just something fun to do when you're bored and don't feel like doing PVE shit. i can see how it wouldn't be for some people, but as long as you don't take it too seriously and just go in to have fun, there's no real downside to it

Chances are very good that you've never touched Linux a day in your pathetic life.
PVP is cool. I have a 26 Rogue and can tell you one thing, we are overpowered on a PVP server as I've seen so far.
Over the weekend at Hillsbrad Farms, a bunch of Horde were attacking the Human farmers there. So being the dick I am, I Stealth'd and waited for them to engage. When they would be half way done fighting it, I jumped them with Ambush and would kill them repeatedly. Was quite fun. Killing them when they finish with 100hp is fun also.
