Got WOW today. 3 Short questions

Postby Sirens » Fri Feb 11, 2005 5:19 am

Was Whisperwind the "default" for ex-nameless people server ?

only bought one account sofar...so off the bat..which class is most soloable but still groupfriendly.

Can I see the actually serverload/crowdedness ?

reason to ask is that im at work and want to be ready to run WOW once kids sound asleep :=)

Thanks

-> Winsperwind is one of the server that ex Nanmeless use (most peoples of Nameless are), there few peoples on Doomhammer (Sedius, Windeyes, Baddwin (me) and few ex LoS ...)

only bought one account sofar...so off the bat..which class is most soloable but still groupfriendly.

Hunter is prolly the best/fastest soloer but its not percieve as a group oriented class (High DPS, great puller but not alot of group buff)

Shaman are nice, even if they are not the best healer they have alot to offer to a group and can solo easy (they lack CC abilitie)

as for other class i didn't try it yet, only play Hunter 31, and a little shaman and warlock.

Can I see the actually serverload/crowdedness ?

yes when you will select the server you will see the load of server.

reason to ask is that im at work and want to be ready to run WOW once kids sound asleep :=)

Thanks

Have fun =)

A lot of people from the Nameless that post here plan on Whisperwind. There are others spread out across a lot of other servers, though. Is there someone in particular you're looking for?

If you want a strong solo class, play a hunter, a paladin, a priest, a shaman, or a rogue. Depends on your play style. Since you're an ex-bard, you might want to take a close look at the shaman - it's the most similar to the old EQ bard class.

Pretty much everyone but warriors solo quite well, if you build them to do it. Even warriors can solo, but they're relatively slow. There's generally a pretty fair tradeoff between group utility and solo power, with the two classes that most need changes currently being reevaluated.

If you like to play and use lots of strategy. I think you'd enjoy a rogue, there are many different varieties in skills and ways you can go with a rogue. They do an immense amount of damage and are great fun to play. I'd highly recommend a Undead rogue, or Troll. They're great at solo'ing, and great in groups. Overall, they're the funnest class i've found thus far. And i've played all of the classes but paladin and druid.

If you plan on doing high end, don't be a rogue. If you want to be a desired class be a Warrior, Mage or Priest.

I solo'd better than most as a warrior, but I have a very unique build that is going to change drastically once I hit 50ish.

AE for the win!

I am on the fence on getting this game. I really don't have 3+ hours everyday to spend on-line in a game but it sounds like a lot of fun.

Play 30 min then. Youll level slower than everyone else, but it doesnt require you to log on as eq did.

One of nice things about WoW is that you can be productive playing in even 30 minute chunks. It scales temporally better than any MMOG I've played. The fact that every class is capable of soloing helps, as does the quest-driven advancement system.

In a sense yes...but to be "high end" you're going to have to devote 4 hours a day to the game.

can be high end and not play 4 hours a day..

thats for hardcore raiders.

There are lots of casual guilds with high level characters, that raid more casually, to suit their lifestyle. Think only one of the legacy of steel offspring is more hardcore.

High end isn't farming Zul Farrak. Clearing the end game instances (fully) doesn't take 30 minutes.

but you dont have to do it 4 hours a day every day which is how you make it sound..

if he was wanting a guild that occasionally raids those instances so he can see the content at some point, there are plenty out there.

I know alot who cant raid hardcore anymore but enjoy once in awhile to attend a raid to instances, when they can play for few hours.

If i'm lucky I play twice a week and bout to ding 30. So far there is really no grind in this game. You can easily complete a few quests, or gain half a level in an hour.

Oh yah its fun too. I can't say that about eq2.

druid is a very good class for this playstyle, and relatively useful in the high game.

there's a dude in my guild and he plays twice a week

6 hours a week basically, maybe 10 tops

he's still managed to stay within 6 lvls of us the whole time

granted, we're also lvling a bit slower to not outpace him, but it can be done
