my head is exploding in the worst migraine i've had in a long time and none of the conventional fix-its are helping, i.e. advil, excedrin, dark room, etc.
advise, please, as i will soon be dead!

The caffeine should actually help, Leah (although in other cases it can make it worse).. I'd imagine that your headache was caused from your decision to give caffeine up for lent. When I gave up caffeine I got *horrible* withdrawl headaches that nothing would cure. Hope you feel better

Leah, you know I <3 you, so don't take this as an attack, but I have to ask something because I really can't understand this...
You are like the 2nd or 3rd person who has written here talking about having a migraine headache and asking for advice on what to do about it.
HOW can you even stand to look at the computer screen at ALL??
With every migraine I have ever incurred, every light in the room I am in MUST be off, every noise snuffed, and god forbid I hear tap-tap-tap from the keyboard or clicking from a mouse (I have nearly broken my husband's computer before because of him sitting there typing), or any kind of noise. It must be as quiet and as dark as I can make it. Even attempting to open my eyes with a nightlight in the room feels like shards of glass ripping my head apart. My father is exactly the same way (maybe it's a hereditary thing?)
I know that they affect everyone differently, but I am curious as to how you, and others, can sit there looking at a computer screen in the midst of a migraine without it putting you in so much pain that you pass out or cause you to throw up? Or does it not affect you quite so badly in those manners?

sensitivity to light isn't one of my things, oddly enough. it's movement. if i'm sitting still focusing on one thing there's no real reason for my head to pound and throb. the second i move my head in ANY way, be it when i stand up or even if i avert my eyes a certain direction, i've got a one-way ticket to blinding pain.

okay so now i'm starting to get a little freaked out. my vision is being altered (trouble focusing, blurry vision at times) and the headache is STILL HERE and STILL INTENSE. i'm highly drugged up atm but at certain movements i can still feel the pain. i am scared of doctors and would like to avoid an appointment, any other suggestions or is it time to go in?

Hon, go see a doc. I know they suck (I hate doctors more than I hate getting sick... and that's saying something) but go in and have them take a look at you. At the very least, you will get a nice new prescription for some major headache relievers.
You know, sadly enough, smoking pot helps to alleviate a lot of the symptoms and help put you to sleep so you don't have to deal with the pain so badly and no fucked up side effects like from other medication. There's a use I wish they'd make legal.
