My mistake, thought you were implying that I skipped out on everyone back then.

Not being tied down to one thing is fun.

Then shush you! I guess I should have specified when I say all of us I meant the all of us that were left after the EQ2/WoW sweep. Yes playing more than one thing is fun, I'm just saying don't complain about not having people to hang with because there was a decent group make up of us there until recently.

I couldn't have raided with you guys though, and doing LDON's when I knew I wouldn't be on very much just didn't seem like it would have been alot of fun.

You all were overly busy anyway. *sigh*

That was the thing, however we were usually available before 9pm and weekends during the day for sure. You had more of a life and couldn't do the full time raid thing. /shrug lol rl isn't a bad thing I hear.

I'm not sure that any game in the future will ever capture the fun of exploring Cazic Thule, Mistmoore, Befallen, SolA or Guk for the very 1st time

Shit, I remember spending hours talking wtih my brothers, and cousin about EQ during the day before we'd log in to play

I remember being impressed the 1st time I saw a ranger fear kite those wolves in East Karana

I remember discovering the ability to mez goblins in solA bar by hopping over the bar, and making them run around the long way to get you, then hopping back

I remember the 1st time I saw a Sand Giant, and how it actually made me nervous IRL to hunt in Oasis cause you never knew when some fucktard druid would train the specs to the dock =P

I could go on for ever with all the fun shit I experienced, and I would imagine 95% of the list I could post would be mirror'd by anyone who started pre-kunark

Did it end with you dropping off the boat and swimming for 2hours? At least a lot of people maxed out their swimming in those first couple of weeks.

I don't have a Karmie obsession Taxx, we used to do a lot, back in the day with Gullem.. That crowd was where I had fun in EQ, makes sense that a memories post includes them.

Good post - I agree 100%. The first time I walked out of the Nek with my VERY first char (Diekan - the DE wizard) and thinking... "holy shit this is cool." Then making Slainn (DE SK) and going to CT to get decayed for the armor quest... Sitting around in MM with some ass ranger named Crendar :dunno: for fangs... running up to the advisor at level 20 something thinking I could HT him, kill him and loot the robe and FD before dying (never worked). Raiding with PoF then making Diekan (the Rogue) after they broke up.... getting that epic. How many of you kept opening up your inventory to look at it right after you got it? I know I did, more than a few times.

I think the most nerve wracking time for me in all of EQ was when I was working on the epic... having to sneak around in Fear all alone for that damned book. I stripped down, putting EVERYTHING but a couple of flasks of water and a couple of iron rations in the bank... got a couple of stones and a had a wiz friend port me up.

I think one of the most fun times I had (had several, but this one stands out from the rest) was being with Zahlia, Elerin, and a paladin (and fuck me I can't remember his name to save my life... a very cool guy and damn good paladin)... anyway being in OS Disco (BOTH) pulling God knows how many frogs at the same time and owning that place for hours upon hours... I think we all left with an FBR and a shit load of other goods. Holy shit it's irritating me that I can't remember that pallies name. w...t...f was his name.

I guess I went into EQ2 with the same expectations, even though I publically denied it... but EQ2 wasn't the same, not even close.

Even through all the server outages and our bitching and complaining about this and that... in retrospect... EQ1 really was a work of art.

I hate old school EQ, it ruined me for all games ever since. In the fact nothing is as awe inspiring as it was. I still remember waking my cousin up to look at the IGs in Everfrost after one killed me when I was out wandering and him not being pissed because they were so cool.

I think that's the best times I had in eq was there screwing around with you, mallorn, mawavi, damari, and lori. That damn maid did take a shit long time to give up that fang.

I started and restarted this post probably 15 times

I was trying to come up with like my top5 memories

I can't narrow it down that much
I saw so much cool shit, learned so much cool shit, and fought in so many cool fights (with ingame content, and PC personalities~) that I could probably write a 300 page book about my EQ experience

I'm sure it would be poorly written, and no one outside of Nameless geeks would get 90% of the jokes, but for those that lived it, it would be trip~

No game has ever felt like old EQ did. I remember going to BBM for the first time and being fucking amazed at how big the beetles were.

I wish I still had my old screenshots, I used to be so amazed by all the small things. My favorite one was Aryylas and I sitting inside an orc tent on orc hill feeling so cool because we had cleared them out. I remember hearing horror stories from people whenever I moved up to a new area, especially when Kunark came out. (oh no the saranak fort is badass, shit doesn't mess around there, you thought the specs in Oasis were bad? Wait till you get there Adivina just wait!)

i started first week of november 99 after watching my roommate deal with halloween skellies in QH

got my human mage to 46 before kunark came out, then made an iksar sk

some of my best memories were the hours i spent in kunark dungeons just looking around. a good portion of these hours were spent with klissar looking for clues to the greenmist quest (which was broken, as it turned out), but the fact remains i never had so much fun in EQ as pre-SoV

The Kunark dungeons were really cool. I remember doing faction work with Adivina and being gleeful that I could stroll around in iksar town pretending to be a cool clown face iksar~

i remember when i almost didn't buy my circlet of shadow for 500p because i was like 'what but i can already cast that why would i spend that much money' and it was being sold everywhere for like 100 ~ 1000p because not too many people realised how hardcore it was til they made it stop dropping...

my personal favorite part of old eq was that there weren't that many people. you knew everyone that was high level that played your class and you always chatted w/ them or farmed stuff or dicked around and shared strats or whatever. it was so great.

my favorite times playing were exploring original eq before kunark launched... lake rathe was so dope. i sat there for days sharing a spawn with chanteez to get to 21 so i could go to south karana and eventually camp the penthouse ~_~

this screenshot captured (for me) the essence of everything I loved about EQ

It was the very 1st time LoS pulled Vyemm (well, except for draed training every dragon in Nwing on us the 1st time thinking he could solo pull vulak jeje)

None of us had any idea what to expect when all of a sudden this monstrosity showed up and skewered Parv

DOn't worry Brinstar, I was in my iksar illusion, you would not have known me from the others if it bit you in the ass :)

yeah, i remember watching my buddy play his bard up to like 54 and then sell him for $400, i freaked

i would go over to his place and keep bugging him to let me play, and he would tell me, in a sec.... 3 hours later

i remember soloing those giants outside Kaladim and actually picking up a whole plat and getting almost a blue of experience and freaking out, of course as a ranger i had to sit and med for like 10 mins just fight another and then wait for them to pop again

AND THAT DAMNED Unicorn in LFAY!!!
Mindia is seriously the greatest troll that has ever lived.

I first started playing during one of the halloween events

Imagine one of your first times ever playing and you go out to fight some stuff and you have huge WARBONE skeletons owning you up at the surefall zoneline.

and Varsoon the undying sticking his dick in your ass for jollies
