Post by Lyion »

IGN has a few first details about the next upcoming 'Star Wars Galaxies' expansion #2 (after 'Jump to Lightspeed') that is entitled 'Rage of the Wookiees'.

A lot of people do. It still has over 300k subscribers strong.

Have you tried it since Jump to Lightspeed? Its a very fun game and one of the few non EQ clones out there.

nope

Hard to justify plunking down cash for expansions for multiple games

especially games that I didn't like to start with

I really wish that companies in the MMO business would reduce initial startup cost for consumers
The monthly subscription is where all the cash is, cut us a break on the price to get started wtih a game

You can't really beat Planetside, EQ, EQ2, and Star Wars Galaxies for 22 bucks a month.

You can download a demo of Star Wars Galaxies, Planetside, etc also and try them out.

I agree with you about the expansions and startup costs, but they need to pay for developing new content. Expansions are voluntary, too. You can get PS, EQ, SWG, and EQ2 complete for around 100 bucks with all expansions right now. Thats an assload of content and gaming, for 100 bones.

I'll be surprised if Blizzard doesn't follow the same expansion vision, especially since WOW is following EQ1s design document.

Durothil and I actually did hit up planetside for their free month, and it was a blast

not enough to pay cash for each month tho~

(not when you can get almost the same gaming experience playing old unreal, or free Enemy Territory)

They've added a bunch of stuff for Planetside, and its included in the All Access.

Planetside is twice the game it was at release, and it was pretty damn fun then.

I agree

I beta'd planetside for a long time, then Duro and I picked it up again just before WoW went live

It was a lot of fun, but not $15/month fun

I was really into Planetside for a couple weeks. Then I got tired of some guy taking the reigns and declaring that it was of the utmost importance to strike while the iron was hot. Never mind that you'll wake up tomorrow to the same shit. Best FPS on the internet IMO though.

Yeah, we need a group from NT that doesnt take this stuff seriously to go and kick some serious ass on Planetside.

I have All Access and am fooling around with SWG, and will play some PS if anyones interested.

Duro and I were talking back in november or whatever

If we'd had a regular 8-10 man crew (or whatever group sizes were) planetside would have been awesome

It'd be great to have some people to play with regularly where you could actually coordinate how you were attacking shit, and could pick complementary classes, and vehicles

If I pick up EQ2 and deem it worth playing, I will get one of those station passes. Planetside was fun when I played it.

But as said, not $15 a month fun.

Did anyone see the pics of the SWG GM event where Darth Vader visited one of the guilds?

See http://www.corpnews.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=40594 if you're interested.

The download is free. If you owned a copy before, your username is still valid.
