Maltus Everling, Nektropos Castle

Thought I would post this here as I had to figure this one out for myself. All the websites I have looked at on strategies for Maltus Everling tell you that you need to have an enchanter to silence him. Maltus Everling casts an AE silence that can devistate a group fo low to mid 30s characters.

The key to killing him without an enchanter is to have an Alchemist make you Xaliran's Renewal potions. It is a level 27 Alchemist potion that removes arcane and divine ailments. When Maltus Everling hits your group with his silence just activate the potion and you are in business again. I only had to use it once through the entire encounter, however he may cast it again if the fight goes on longer than planned.

The way we did it was I had the group wait in the hallway while I started the encounter by hailing him. Maltus Everling then goes through a few moments of dialogue as he walks to his machine at which time he becomes attackable. I positioned Everling with his back to the hallway where the group was, and my back against his machine. The group engaged his pet and other mobs while I soloed Everling. About 10 seconds into the fight he casts his AE silence, we activated our potions to clear it and continued in the same fashon as we started. The rest of the group killed his minions and then switch to my target to finish it all off.

We had no deaths nor did we even have any close-calls. The fight was trivial with the potions.

So you can do this encounter fine with or without an enchanter. Assassins also get a Slice Throat or something that will give a short durration silence, which can also help, but do bring potions regardless.
