I don't use this feature. If I ever start using it, I'll let you know if I have the problem. Till then, carry on.

It's a much faster way to see all of the new posts rather than clicking through on the individual areas of the board. I highly recommend.

You see? I don't care about 3/4 of the forums on this board. So I don't want to see those posts.

Fair enough. I tend to mostly ignore the cat-crew forum, but I have posted (like you have) there a couple of times. But, with hitting View Unread Posts, you see the area and can ignore certain areas as desired.

Why not just look at the Forums on the left side, where they highlight the circle in orange if there is unread posts?

This is what I do. Periodically I'll do a "mark all as read" just to clear out all the the other forum markers so they don't draw my attention.

That's what I used to do, but it takes a longer if you're only following 3 or 4 threads, and they're spread across different sections. Hitting view unread is just one click and everything is in one place.

It's not a huge deal, but I find it significantly easier than clicking through on each area.

But if it clears them all to read accidently, there is no point, eh?

I think it was that I needed to clear my cache. After clearing it, everything now works fine.
