SUSE installed

Just finished installing SUSE 9.2 on a 70 gig partition on my Windows machine. I am VERY impressed. The last time I messed around with Linux was back in the Redhat 6.0 days (and back then Linux wasn't easy to use).

Nice and stable... looking for some emulators to use various MS programs on.

By the way - any of you know a way to port over files from a MS OS partition to a linux partition? Would like to port all my music / video / porn / etc files over.

With SUSE you can SEE your Windows partitions without needing any installs.... wtf! Linux has come a LONG way....

errrr... having a bit of trouble getting sound to work. Checked the config and everything seems in order. Any ideas?

It defaults to mute, Diekan. Run the Gnome Sound Applet and raise it to max.

Also, if you have any other questions, IM or PM me. I've been on Linux for 10 years and can get most pieces to work.
I run Fedora Core and Gentoo, but can help on other distros

Got it to work through using the on-board card. Will work on getting the PCI to work in the mean time.

For those of you interested in using something other than Windows / Mac, I'd highly suggest trying out SUSE 9.2 - easy to install, easy to configure, easy to use.

I'd suggest Fedora Core 3, if you have a high speed connection. It's easier to install and the updates are more efficient.

Suse 9.2 is good, I just prefer Fedora Core 3. If you have the know how Gentoo is the best distro, though.

gentoo is amazing if you are willing to put the huge amount of time in it takes to setup, and have a fairly good idea what your doing. By far the best.
