For what?

Allowing her wishes to be carried out in the manner she wanted?

FUCK HIM HE IS A BIG DUMMYHEAD

What an evil, evil man for carrying out the wishes of his former wife he loved as she instructed if such a thing were to ever happen.

I'll have to catch the rerun.

Thank god. At least now I know the countdown to never having to hear about her again is approximately 3 weeks.

yep, that bastard should rot in hell for not allowing his wife to suffer for years and years, what the hell is wrong with these selfish people trying to end the turmoil of their loved ones!

If she didn't "suffer" from being starved to death, how exactly was she "suffering" from being force fed? Odd how those who wanted her to die seem to have a practice of selectively applying pain - only using it when it serves their purpose. Either she had the capacity to feel pain, or she didn't. Make up your fucking mind.

Frankly, you should be ashamed of yourself for contributing to the partisan usage of this woman.

Yeah, cuz God knows that only an inhuman monster with no feelings at all would let his wife die peacefully instead of forcing her to live a half-life for decades.

I don't understand the rabid Christian viewpoint on this. Isn't she with God? Isn't that a thousand times better than wasting away in a hospice room being kept "alive" by machines?

I refuse to believe that God would want anyone kept in that situation.

I know you aren't trying to insinuate that I have a "rabid Christian viewpoint" on this.

After the article that Martrae posted, I felt a bit better about the whole situation. I've always believed she should be let able to pass, but agree that starvation seemed a bit harsh - however, this quote in particular stuck out-

In fact, eating and drinking during severe illness can be painful because of the demands it places on weakened organs.

It sucks that she had to go the way she did, but in reality, letting her go any other way would be murder.. it isn't the first time 'pulling the plug' has been used.. it's the method used on anyone who is living solely by life support when it's decided to let them pass. While it's usually the case that plugs are pulled on breathing machines, etc, I guess I don't see how having someone suffocate is any better than starving them.

Well, that surprises me frankly. Everybody I talked to about this case... family, coworkers, pastor, girlfriend, other church members all have said the same thing. I haven't met one person in real life who supported having Terry's feeding tube removed... not one. All in all, I conversed with approximately 30 people about this subject. It has stressed me out and caused me to feel much anger and disdain towards Michael Schiavo, and our judicial system. I know I shouldn't allow it to affect me like this, but it does. It was so sad, and so callous of an act. I feel so bad for the Schindlers and other people who loved Terry.

Bill O'Reilly made some comments on his "Radio Factor" last night that surprised me. He said that he was against any "rescue" effort of Terry Schiavo, and he thinks that the husband has the right to get on with his life, and blah blah blah. I think this was the first time in my life I've ever disagreed with, and got pissed-off at O'Reilly. I actually had to change the station.

Bottom line is that none of us knows the exact details of this case. All we know is what the media reports to us. Based on what I've learned through the media I had no choice but to take a stance the way I did. This court ruling has set a very dangerous precedence, and they killed an innocent woman in the process. Inmates on death row get better treatment than Terry Schiavo. This whole thing is a milestone of crap, with our judges decision-making, and lack of compassion for our fellow human beings. I am literally disgusted.

May I please ask why you don't think the husband has a right to get on with his life after 15 years?

Interestly enough my family and friends are about 50/50 on it.

Judges make fair decisions based on evidence. This was adjudicated for years.

Given this was appealed through the 11th circuit court <a conservative court> and to the Supreme Court, rest assured the i's were dotted and t's were crossed.

Her best friend said she wouldnt want to live on life support, as did her Husband and others.

The only ones who wanted her like that were her family, who in my mind did it for personal selfish reasons, versus what's better for Terri.

She had no hope of getting better. She had been completely unresponsive for 15 years.

More will come out when the autopsy is released and the videos of the doctors with her are on the news.
