I'd moreso say it's a debate about how we should run the boards.

I made a judgement call on extremely graphical content based on what I thought was the right thing to do. You disagree. Fair enough. I posted a poll to see peoples opinions are.

My understanding is EE was lightly moderated. I'm trying to see what people want. If your decision is you do not want any moderation, hey no problem. EE will be completely unmoderated, with any silly, pr0n, fefn, etc.

Although I don't understand why you're saying you'd delete graphic content in one post, and yet admonish me for simply moving it to what I felt was an appropriate venue in another.

I don't ever expect NWS stuff in EE to be... uh, "light." But, I do expect the NWS stuff to be marked as such.

If it were a discussion on how we should run the boards, it wouldn't be a public poll. We would talk in private. That's how we do things here. We don't discuss admin actions in public, let alone publicly ask the board to take sides on the matter. That's called "uncool."

You didn't know the history behind the EE/AFA/CC forums. Now you do. It seems like a 3rd forum will need to be thrown into the mix.

I am in NO way criticizing you for moving the post. I never said that. I agreed with the moderation. What I disagreed with was your making a blanket statement that ALL NWS posts would end up in the cat-crew forum, or anywhere else for that matter. That goes against the original design of EE. If someone posted some topless hottie in a properly marked thread, it would be appropriate in EE. I wouldn't touch it. However, a picture of someone taking a shit offends ME, and so... I would have deleted it. That plays into the 'judgment call' rule. Even so, NWS material BELONGS in EE. Even after I deleted (not moved into Brinstar's forum) the post, I wouldn't attempt to rewrite the rules. NWS falls into the 'catch-all, free-speech' design of EE.

Poll results aside, there will be a catch-all forum... and a new Chat forum.

As far as offending the new people... EE was *always* registered members only... you can't even see EE unless you are logged in.

There are some legit threads in EE. People at work can go in there and put in their voice. But if some chucklehead decides to be funny and ninja posts wtftit, that could get them in trouble at work.
Gidan is allowed to look at the internet at work (works at an isp). But he cant look at porn or questionable content. In a thread devoted to puppies and rainbows, wtftit is pretty durn questionable.

ALL the moderation I think should be allowed in EE is tagging the title and removal of RL info......not changing entire posts for the hell of it (theme song thread a while back, I'm still pissed)

It's simple...

Nothing illegal. No crazy HTML that fucks with my forums. I'm not going to ban people for using racial slurs in AFA, but be reasonable... I don't want to see KKK flash pages or anything stupid. That's about it. Oh yeah, don't post personal info without permission. If I see my home address on this site, I'll send the dogs to nibble on your privates.

Anything that couldn't be read by a person at work or at school should have a NWS tag on the thread title. Moderators will try to add them if the original poster forgot to. Repeatedly ignoring this 'suggestion' will piss me off and I'll nuke the forum.
Moderators WILL lock or prune threads only if the poster requests it. That *should* be the only moderation that goes on in here.

The administration staff will continue to use their best judgment on the highly-questionable threads. When we say that there will be no moderation, that isn't a golden ticket to break every other forum rule... I'll take pleasure in banning people for that. It simply means that you can post what you like... bump threads... create spam topics (the person above me is...)... link to your favorite porno site... whatever. 99% of the 'bannable' offenses in the rest of the forum will be overlooked in this forum.

Also, these rules can change at any time.

it is in the orginal rules, is it really that hard to add 3 tag letters to a thread? I am loooking over these rules where it states that everything in EE is NWS - and all I can see is it is a forum that could contain NWS material. Really all it is, is a common courtesy.

You're missing the fact that people at work have down time, thus if you had a job where you could use the internet you would understand that.

What about shit that's posted after the original topic....am I expected to come back and check all my threads to make sure no one posted tubgirl in it so I can change the title?

The mods are here quite often but none live here to catch that sort of shit when it happens and mark it right away.

My favorite Forum on the net is the Stileproject forum. I've been lurking there longer than I've been posting on NT (must be 5+ years now). Some of the most depraved fucks on the net are at the SPF (Toucher used to be a mod there, for instance). I've had jobs before where I've had full net access and to be honest, I probably wouldn't have been caught, but I STILL managed to keep all my net surfing work safe. It's really not that hard. If you like the NWS stuff, just wait til after work.

It's like speeding in a school zone. Sure, you can do it and most of the time you won't get caught. However, if a cop pulls you over and gives you a ticket you can't get upset and act like you didn't know there was a chance they'd be there.

In my opinion, it's not the thread it's the forum. If you're posting in or viewing EE, you should anticipate that there will be NWS shenanigans. You're running the risk of viewing fucked up content by being in the forum that allows it. If you're so concerned about it, just stick to the other 7 forums on this board and wait until you get home to view the NWS stuff.

Considering that 90% of the forum is fine for work, why would people expect that?

The cat crew forum, on the other hand, I wouldn't go near if I was at work for a million years.

Ok, that's fair. There were a few other threads where you flame people specifically for surfing at work "instead of working", and this felt like an extension of that.
Like I said, you know you would too, given the opportunity. ;)

I have to agree with Fefn for the most part - I never went near anything that had the possibility of being NWS where I worked before. I'd just wait until I got home. One bad picture popping up would have gotten me an instant pink slip, so I just avoided it altogether. I crocheted an afghan at that job...

People would expect it because it says "keep NSW tags handy", which, for me at least, quite clearly indicates that there could be questionable content in the forum.

What Mart and a few other of us are trying to say is that there is some concern with the content as displayed in for the form of images.

Say you're at work and on lunch break... you pull up NT and hit the EE forum... you see a link titled "Sunny Florida" and get curious. So you click on it... you scroll through a page of people talking about their recent trips, then as you're scrolling throuh page 2 you happen across some image, that some moron, posted a pic of a horse shooting jizz on some chicks face... you HAD NO IDEA IT WAS THERE. The original poster didn't tag it NSFW because there wasn't a need.

You get it yet? Or do you need a picture drawn?

THAT does need moderated.

Since you feel the need to talk to me like I'm a four year old, I'm not going to give you much attention.

Say you're at work and on lunch break... you pull up NT and hit the EE forum

This violates what I've been saying all along, thus making your point moot in my eyes. For some reason, everyone keeps coming back to this exact same issue.

Fefn says:
1) EE forum has NWS material
2) Surfing EE forum breeds potential to encounter NWS material
3) If you're not prepared to accept this potential --> avoid EE forum at work

That's been my point the entire time.

You say

Say you're at work and on lunch break... you pull up NT and hit the EE forum.

Fefn is inclined to think that you've made your choice and that you're capable of understanding the risks.

I used the SPF as an example of something I avoided while surfing at work because I knew there would be questionable content there. It had absolutely nothing to do with the Nameless Tavern with the exception of the connection of questionable content in the EE forum.

Way to take it completely out of context.
