Also finished programming my Pronto 6000 universal remote. Now I can control the TV, Cable, DVD, VHS, AVR, the lights and even shock the cats with one remote that has a zippy LCARS motif.

The remote has a "learning" mode. If you can get the Pronto in the vicinity of a remote that is broadcasting a signal you can learn it and mimic it. My cat's all wear shock collars that keep them from going into areas of the house they have been using as a litter box. For kicks I wanted to see if the remote could learn the signal broadcast from the boundary devices... it can.
So now I have a button with a lightning bolt icon on it in case the kitties try to sharpen their claws on the drapes… or if they start getting to uppity and need to be taken down a peg.
