What do you miss most about EQ?

What do you miss the most about EQ? Can be from any expansion...

I think I miss the raids with Paragons the most - I miss the grouping with all the old Victis Honor people too.

then even with best intentions you'd end up reading about some of the intricacies that someone else had discovered


That was a big part of why I wanted to join LoS, we'd be among the very first to see certain new content, so it couldn't be spoiled as easily

I miss pissing off smaller guilds, I miss the drama of a trak kill and 5 other guilds all pissy about it, I miss training the cleric in EC on everyone, I miss starting arguments in OOC with my druid and my rogue, I miss all the bleeding vaginas crying about everything.

i miss the community (aka the people i talked to some in Euph/Sanc/LoS/Nameless of Mercy (my 2nd guild) the raids and not using the bat phone, my first raid into Temple o Veeshan... the first Statue and Vindy kill.. first tormax.. pretty much all the firsts for me.

I miss the uber lag on AoW raids with Los. Having dufus' running in there giving us even more lag cause they are just watching.

I miss some ass coming up to you at like lvl 3 asking can i have 20k plat... and you saying i have no plat (which was the truth) and then having that ass shout/ooc that Malluas is a dick fuck him... then me training a Hill giant on him.

I miss the drama on raids.. people being late.. the mad rush.. the CAMP by seanlan and then wondering why he was alone.

I miss Zixx calling me during a raid to see if i was back from afk hehe (when i was only gone for like 1 min).

I miss Gal calling me a bard/ranger and askin me for Sow while he was in the lizard temple and i was in Seru... like i could cast across zones.

I miss talkin to Bzul on NToV raids (when it was LoS that owned the zone) and him saying *yawn*.. Vulak is a pussy

talkin to Tigole in Skyshrine was also fun.. we happened to cross paths alot in Skyshrine.

Cazic Thule revamp right off the bat. Before everyone went there. It was intense as all hell and everything I wanted in EQ. Exp, loot, challenge. If your group wasn't perfection, you got owned. I loved everyone in that zone for the first two months.

Hearing about Vonk's reaction when he heard that I got the Silverleaf Girdle in Hate like 3 years ago.

I also miss how people would come to my solo spot near the bank in KD and try to take it over and kick me out.

I also miss being falsely accused by a handful of guild-mates of "farming armor in KD while I was supposed to be on raids with the guild." Reminds me of the 8th Commandment:

I miss being a newbie to online rpg.

I miss my first time in Gfay, when i first made my character. Getting owned by an orc pawn, seeing an ogre running around (player character) and me getting freaked out thinking it was going to kill me because it conned "red".

Zoning into Crushbone for the first time and meeting a Crush/Dvinn train right away. That scarred me for life

Taking the Boat to Antonica and fighting in WC for the first time. Then dying and finding out i was still bound in Gfay.

Pulling Hate for pickup raids run by Ugzug and that mage....what the hell was her name?

Completing both swords for my epic, that was one of the best days in EQ.

Raiding in General with BoD was alot of fun (i know i will hear something for being with BoD, but i loved it). ToV races with Decade, Infusion, and Regret.

Defeating Emp Ssra for the first time with BoD. That was a rush that i wish i could experience in games again.

All and all things that i did with other people. I loved the community on the Nameless.

I miss late nights and early mornings in Howling Stones, The Hole etc and then later in the SoV dungeons with Seanlan, Kaemon, Durck, Terv, Zedd etc. We seriously fucking owned shit. Some of the most fun I ever had in game was in rag tag 3-4 person groups with those guys.

Exploring Plane of Mischief with the handful of folks that made it there shortly after SoV was released.

Taking part in many high end raids with many of the servers best players and guilds without ever having to deal with the drama that came with it! Go go mercenary necro! I never wanted to join any of the high end raiding guilds because I had so many friends in competing guilds, I knew I would never get to hang out with them again if I finally commited to one of the "ubers".

More than anything though, I miss my old guild Ascendant Council. We got owned so many times in so many different situations but it was almost always a blast. Even as I was dragging 30+ corpses from under the feet of some various bad guy I would be thinking, "Holy shit that was fun! Let's do it again!". I later joined BoD and had many good times with them but by that time, my heart just wasn't in the game anymore.

In all, it was the people in the game, not necessarily the "content" that I miss the most. Once people started taking the game so seriously, and all the keyed dungeons and shit were introduced, it destroyed a lot of the fun for me.

Camping the Ghoul for pally sword with Setanian and a few others and being the porter I got to loot everything and sell it and then port/run back and split. I remember I was so overencumbred it took 45 min to walk from spires in Tox to Erudin.

53 hours straight in Lord/Hand/AM trying to get either the robe or the belt and I ended up with nothing except the letters vbn stamped in my forhead when I fell asleep on the keyboard

Next day I get FBSS and trade it for SMR (I felt so uber)

Overall the Days of Lower Guk/Sol B were prolly my most memorable.

Dueling Manalope outside of Mistmoore for near an hour straight. Cuz random healers were tossing heals on us even thougfh we kept telling them not to

Finishing the Ice Comet quest.

Joining Sanct (and all the drama that ensued in the next year or 2. Yes in some sadistic way I miss it. I remember Jangho trying to get infoz outta me about what Sanct was doing nightly! )

Death runs in PoF

Killing CT in Fear finally and getting awarded CRoA and having Arbaal write up a big post about how he should have been awarded it (on NT nonetheless)

Knowing that when I zoned into uhhh (keyed zone with frogs,been awhile and I dont remember the name) that there was only LoS and Sanct in there and not 50,000 others.

Trak smoking 3 guilds in one pull. LoS and Sanct working together as 1 team after that to have necro's summon corpses and clerics res (In those days that was unheard of). I remember it was a LoS Necro who summoned my corpse and a LoS cleric that ressed me even though I was in Sanct.

Making fun of Tarkien and his pshyco girlfriend.

Joining LoS after an absence from EQ. I came back Sanct was gone ( To this day I still don't understand completely what happened) and was guildless for a couple months

The biggest thing I miss is the banter

Zoning into an overfull dungeon and sitting waiting for a spot in a group kind of sucked, but at the same time, was still entertaining cause of all the retarded stuff people would say/do (myself included)


EQ was a lot more fun when the mechanics of it were still a bit mysterious
