Dual core processors hit mainstream Dell

Post by labbats »

We've been following the dual core evolution ever since Intel and AMD announced plans in September 2004 to produce processors. Now, we're finally able to report on test results that show what the Pentium EE 840 dual core processor can do for you in day to day computing.

The Pentium Extreme Edition 840 with Hyper-Threading (we'll call it the Pentium EE 840, for short) is Intel's high-end processor marketed for gamers and enthusiasts—basically anyone who wants a top of the line system. The Pentium EE 840 also supports Hyper-Threading, unlike the Pentium D dual core processors (also just announced but aimed at more mainstream users). This means the Pentium EE 840 appears as four processors to the OS; two physical and two virtual processors.
