reseller divisions?

I am very curious to find out how much a sales rep in those types of companies make for a base salary. I would also like to know how much commission a lousy and a great sales rep would make in a month. Lastly how much commission on average would a sales rep make if a customer placed a 50k order, BUT the sales rep gave them a great price.

The reason I am asking this is I am starting to buy huge amounts of hardware and I want to know just how much I can jew down my sales reps on the price and if sending them cash on the side will further entice them to drop the prices.

I work for an IBM business partner. Our sales reps work (most of them) on 100% commission. They have zero base salary - so no you're not going to be able to "jew them down" on the price. They will have to have margin or they will drop the deal on you.

Cash on the side is a personal thing. If the sales person is hungry, he might be willing to do it... but the problem there is that the company he/she works for is going to want to see profit margins, as well - so you do nothing to address the overall corporate solvency with cash kickbacks to the salesperson.

Regardless, companies that we've done business with that only look at the price tag and never at the value add are not companies that IBM business partners do business with anyway. We're not a pizza delivery shop - you come to us because you want the services and value along with the hardware. We offer solutions, not a Service Merchandise mail order catalog. If you just want 3 generic servers and you don't care about anything but price, then go to CDW and buy the crap that they sell.

Hahah "value added". Man I love that term. Its such a commonly used phrase in today's marketing and often times equates to "total bullshit" at a high price. I'm not picking on you I just find it funny because we say the same thing to our customers. We buy Dells and add software and services and sell them at a higher price thanks to our "value added" features. While it is a great product I still find it almost comical how often the term is used.

Anyways you didn't answer my question... How much will an average sales rep make in the reseller division? Also how big of an order would whet their appetite and allow them the deepest discounts? You have to understand I am not interested in the services these companies provide. I need solid products at a good price. We provide the service, therefore I won't pay a premium for shit I don't need ie: "Value Added".
