Splayed feet?

Postby Jimmy Durante » Thu Apr 14, 2005 8:58 am

A couple weeks ago, one of the trainers at my gym noticed me warming up on the treadmill, and pointed out that my feet were slightly splayed more than they should be (apparently some cyclists have this problem as well). I was told to try to keep them more center if I could, but to also find him and he would show me some stretching excercises that would help alleviate the splayed condition. Unfortunately, everytime I've seen him since then he's been working with clients.

Any idea on what muscle group may be the culprit? Even a link to appropriate stretching excercises would suffice.

it could be numerouse things, usually it is a result of three major things.

-Hamstring tightness

-old knee injury

-Old Ankle injury

Quad tightness

I'm lacking injuries, so #1 and #4 would be the logical culprits considering I've had a history of tightness in my quads and hams. Thanks Mop.

If you haven't had the injuries I would guess with out a pic looking at you that since they pull to the outside your hamstring is tight and your quads are a little weaker.

Simple fix is stretch the hamstrings out every day to help loosen them up, try and get the hips and quads too to help keep the load off your lower back.

Laying down kicking one leg strait up and having some sort of towel or something keep your foot in plae while you hold it is the best suggestion I can make
