Who is it who is it who is it? I have 2 bucks riding on this. ;)
Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.

Why do they change their names?

Are there only like 10-12 names they're allowed to choose?

tikker.. has something to do with saints. I was taught it back in the day but since i am not a good catholic (don't go to mass) i don't remember and don't really give a flying crap. When i was confirmed (some stupid ritual in the catholic church, when i was like 12) i used Daniel.. a saints name.

They can choose any saints name. but usually they pick names that have been picked before for some reason.

BTW why the fuck did they pick a pope that already has 1 foot in the grave.. he will die soon

and i was listenin to the ABC radio news special thingy... and they were HOPING for a liberal pope.. prob is there isn't one that will ever be elected pope. Then they couldn't figure out about the smoke... eventho the crowd knew (which was funny all these elitists not knowing shit). Then they made the comment, well since WE couldn't figure out if the smoke was white or black.. maybe the pope will be a middle of the road guy. Then the name.. then they started to bash him cause he was a conservative.

I think the tradition kicked off in the 6th century or so, when a cardinal(?) called Mercury was named pope. He didn't feel he should keep the name of a pagan god as pope, so he switched to something more biblical.

Since then, the names they choose are supposed to be indicative of their personality (ie. Pope Hilarious), or reflect the sort of papacy they're shooting for, like Pope Augustus, a militaristic pope, or just by following the precedent set by their namesake.

So, you see a lot of name recycling. I mean, there have been, what, 13 popes Pious, 12 popes Innocent, etc?

popepopepope what a fun word to say pope

Oh, and I'm not catholic either, I just watch the national news while I eat my dinner, and picked all that up~

pope hehe

Funny, apparently this pope was a part of the Hitler Youth. Also heard that some prophet predicted this guy to be the downfall of the catholic church like a long time ago? Anyone else have more info?

His intellectual searching began as a seminarian in Nazi Germany where he rounded out the experience with a brief fling in the Hitler Youth, though he was never a member of the Nazi Party. He was later conscripted into the German Army from which he eventually deserted before ending the war as an American POW.

You didn't study history too well did you?

I suggest you go refresh your memory on the hitler youth and nazi germany in general. That made you sound like a little kid who watched a few movies on WW2.

The Hitler Jugend (Hitler Youth), the NAZI party's youth movement, indoctrinated German youth to perpetuate the "1,000 year Reich." The Hitler Youth movement emphasized activism, physical training, NAZI ideology, especially nationalism and racial concepts, and absolute obedience to Hitler and the NAZI Party. Indoctrinating children in National Socialist idelogy was a key goal of the NAZI Party. Once Hitler assumed control over the German state, he used the Goverment to make the Hitler Youth the country's all encompasing youth movement. Hitler and other NAZIs leaders saw the indoctrination of young Germans as of critical importance. In the same year that they took power, the NAZIs organized German youth organizations into two branches of the Hitler Youth (Hitler Jugen), one branch for boys and one for girls. Membership was eventually made compulsory and all boys had to report to a neigborhood office to have his racial background checked and be registered for membership. There was then a typically elaborate introduction ceremony on the Füherer's birthday.

Compulsory:required by rule; "in most schools physical education are compulsory"; "attendance is mandatory"; "required reading"
Conscript: enroll into service compulsorily; "The men were conscripted"

amazing how your that fucking stupid and can still breath.
