Gidan wrote:Liberalism isliberalism, philosophy or movement that has as its aim the development of individual freedom. Because the concepts of liberty or freedom change in different historical periods the specific programs of liberalism also change. The final aim of liberalism, however, remains fixed, as does its characteristic belief not only in essential human goodness but also in human rationality. Liberalism assumes that people, having a rational intellect, have the ability to recognize problems and solve them and thus can achieve systematic improvement in the human condition. Often opposed to liberalism is the doctrine of conservatism, which, simply stated, supports the maintenance of the status quo. Liberalism, which seeks what it considers to be improvement or progress, necessarily desires to change the existing order.
It in itseld if not evilness. That is as bad as saying Religion is tantamount to evilness, because some people are so fanatic about their religions that they beleive any who do not agree with them are idiots who have been corupted by propoganda or a bad upbringing.
The theory has not changed, the actions of some have changed. I am a liberal and proud of it.
The quote you posted made me ROFL irl. Thanks, I needed that this beautiful Sabbath morning. Well, off to church I go.
Liberalism is nothing to be proud of, son. I'm guessing you're in your late teens-to early twenties.

His church says if you don't observe the right Sabbath you get an express ticket to Hell. The Sabbath was Friday sundown to Saturday sundown. The early Church moved it to Sunday, but I don't know why, actually.

The SDA church says if you don't observe the right Sabbath you get an express ticket to Hell? LOL No.
The reason why many churches worship on Sunday, instead of the Sabbath, is because of Emporer Constantine. Sabbath worship by Christians and Jews was upsetting the Roman Empire, so Constantine changed the Sabbath day from Saturday to Sunday to appease the Romans who were worshipping their sun God on Sunday. Then the Catholic church upheld that new tradition, and since the RCC was such a huge and influential church, everybody else followed suit. That is the reason why, in a thumbnail short-version explanation.
For the full-length, in-depth explanation, read a book called "The Almost Forgotten Day" by Mark Finley. It's like a 3 dollar book and you can read the whole book in an afternoon.
Rust is correct that the Sabbath is sundown Friday to sundown Saturday, although Saturday is the day Jesus preached in the synagogues. That's why SDA's worship on the Sabbath (Saturday).

Would make sence to preach on Sabbath Day and not Eve.
On friday night you go pray in the synagogue, than go to Sabbath dinner where you eat, drink, sing, have fun and talk about religion and philosophy.
On Saturday after paraying there is Rav preaching for a while in the synagogue.

So.. all the comments about Sunday worship being the Mark of the Beast, the SDA was just joking about that?

Age has nothing to do with anything and no I am not in my late teens or early 20's.
I know many Liberals of all ages and many conservatives of all ages.
Mindia it amazes me that you beleive anyone who is not you is some how lesser. News flash, you are far from perfect. You make mistakes. Just becase somone doesn't agree with you mean nothing other then they dont agree with you.
It does take alot of ignorance to make a statement like being liberal is tatmount to being evil.

And spending time with family during rest on the Shabbat is also important.

He does have a point about age though. Typically teenagers and those under 30 always have a "liberal" viewpoint .
Most of the time they grow up and decide that a lot of it doesn't agree with their mentality and beliefs. This happened about 4 years ago for me when I was 16/17.

I don't see how anybody over the age of 25 can be a liberal. Honestly.

Sometimes I wonder if he says stuff like that just to get a reaction, no one could possibly be that ignorant and still maintain autonomic function.

Well obviously there is a large population of this country that disagrees with you on that. But thats your opinion and your welcome to it.
