Brinstar is a child himself. Everything he says I take with a grain of salt. But, he is amusing and makes me :teehee: especially when he's trying to sound serious about something. Overall... he's a good guy with mixed up priorities, and is confused about politics and religion.

Neither does Mindia - he wants his religion to be your politics, at gunpoint if need be. Or at the stake.

"Liberals believe government should take people's earnings to give to poor people. Conservatives disagree. They think government should confiscate people's earnings and give them to farmers and insolvent banks. The compelling issue to both conservatives and liberals is not whether it is legitimate for government to confiscate one's property to give to another, the debate is over the disposition of the pillage."

Yes, it was interesting but if you want information directly from the source, you should go to:

http://www.adventist.org/

And that brings me to this official statement from the SDA Church:

A Statement on Tolerance

Seventh-day Adventists support the United Nations proclamation of 1995 as the Year of Tolerance. This proclamation comes at an opportune time when intolerance is abounding on all continents—bigoted religious extremism (Mindia added: most likely referring to Muslim extremists), racism, tribalism, ethnic cleansing, linguistic enmity, and other forms of terrorism and violence. Christians carry their share of the blame for prejudice and inhumanity toward humans.

Tolerance, the capacity to endure unfavorable circumstances, is only a beginning. Christians and all people of good will, must go well beyond this negative concept and develop sympathy for beliefs or practices that not only differ, but even conflict with their own. (Mindia added: precisely why I bring up religion on the NT) Dialogue is certainly much better than diatribe (Mindia added: 99% of you should take heed in that). Human beings must learn to agree or disagree without violence; they must be able to discuss varying viewpoints without hate or rancor. (Mindia added: Amen.) This does not mean docility or abject submission, but partnership and respect for the equal rights of others. Every person has the right and the responsibility to express both ideas and ideals with verve and vigor, but without reaching the boiling point of violent words or actions. (Mindia added: Again... AMEN!)

Finally, tolerance at its best means not only acceptance of other views and people, but moving in benevolence, responsiveness, and understanding toward others—every other human being. (Mindia added: Describes me to a "T". Oh how I love the SDA Church! It's too bad that there are so many people here on the NT that have nothing better to do but push my buttons and force me into retaliatory and knee-jerk reactions and statements.)

This statement was approved and voted by the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists Administrative Committee (ADCOM) and was released by the Office of the President, Robert S. Folkenberg, at the General Conference session in Utrecht, the Netherlands, June 29-July 8, 1995.

What you have just described is what you might see come out of the Roman Catholic Church in the future... not from me.

Whoa, whoa, whoa! You mean you tell me you don't like Catholics!? I never would have guessed it. Thank you for all 10,000,000 of these ad hominem attacks. I think we're just now understanding how you actually feel!

I never said I didn't like Catholics. I said trying to discuss anything with them is like banging my head against the wall. I said I don't like the Roman Catholic Church. There is a difference.

It'd be ironic if I didn't have the intent of expressing my disgust for him as an individual, which isn't a secret and isn't the same thing. I recommend going back to high school and learning the actual meaning of irony, not the Alanis Morrisette version.

You fit the "disgusting" mold better than anybody else here, Diabolik. There's a few other people here on the NT that I would also lump into the "disgusting" category. But the funny thing about it is... you have the power to rise above it. I know a lot of reformed "disgusting" people. Just give it more time and you will eventually grow out of it.

So, I'm a bit confused - someone fill me in because I'm not reading 4 pages

This is what I did. I saw this thread:

Waste, possible fraud reported at TSA

Opened it up, my mistake hit page 4, but what do I see on page 4 but a bunch of religious shit (again)

I then go to page one, thinking this couldn't have started as a religious conversation as the topic implies no such thing - I read the article, and sure enough, unless it's really vague or I'm 150% dumbass, there wasn't mention of religion in the article.

Could someone briefly summarize how this thread, just like so many others, got derailed into a conversation about religion without me having to read the pages sandwiched between the original article and the wordswordswordswords posted on the last page?

Bush allocates more money to TSA

Jul 11, 2002 12:00 PM

President Bush has transferred $270 million from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to maintain airport and aviation security. It is the second time that Bush has requested a loan from FEMA to the TSA.

Bush has also urged Congress to pass an emergency spending bill for both agencies. The President said that the TSA will not get a third allocation of funding until Congress approves his supplemental funding request.
