I've been looking at this for a while not sure though I have been pretty let down by xbox rpg's outside of Kotor, which I thought the second let down a little too.

Well, I broke down and bought this today. So far I have about two hours invested and I'm having a blast. I'm still learning the combat, as its pretty involved, but the learning curve isn't too tough. The character customization is pretty cool too, as is the story line and character development.

I got this game the day it was released but just started *really* playing it yesterday.

Awesome game, has me sucked in pretty well. It's nice to have something to fill my old EQ time =)

I picked the balanced character - started out with Magic but didn't really enjoy that as much as I thought I would. I just started chapter 2 - the only thing I don't like about the game is I can't figure out if it has a way to save the game as a named slot intead of "Save 3 - etcetc" which is kind of inconvenient when there are 2 people saving - it's not awful, just have to remember which number save you are (because sometimes the pictures of the spot saves aren't so clear) but still, would be nice to be able to save it as a name.

It's nice to have a twitch-based game that has a solid story line. I'm really enjoying it.

Definately, I have about 15 hours invested and I'm on chapter three. I played so much this weekend that it felt unhealthy, but that might've been because I was sick. One problem is that the combat is a little repetitive. However the storyline and variety of enemies more than makes up for it.

I really wanted to get a fox spirit as a companion :(

Did you fight The Mother yet? Were you as disappointed with that fight as I was?

i haven't gotten to the Mother yet - after I reached heaven I realized I missed a step and had to go kill Gao the Greater and whatnot. I was going to pick up tonight and go kill The Mother, but got distracted by TV >< I still have a gajillion and a half quests to do yet.. I keep getting off track by these sidequests!

Hehe, which character did you choose and what styles are you mastering? I'm the fast character, the guy with the tatoo on his back. I'm mastering Frost Shard, Legendary Strike, and Dual Sabres. ^_^ Oh, and I'm Open Palm.

I have the balanced character - I picked DIre Flame, but after seeing Scott's character with frost shard, I'm kind of jealous because the frost is more like Diablo whereas I'm so hellbent on flame because of how bad wizards ice line in EQ was

I also am working on Legendary Strike - haven't gotten to the point you have with the dual sabre option I don't think.. and I haven't picked open palm or closed fist yet because that's another one of my sidequests that i haven't really started ><

I kinda just got into it hopefully I can beat it before Forza comes out, that being said it reminds me alot of breath of fire for some reason.. I like it though I think the story drags a little I haven't gotten that far into the story line.

It does start off a little slow Mop, but once you get more into it it makes a lot more sense.

Yea, I feel kinda cheap sometimes when I use Frost Shard, it just seems so unfair. All I do is freeze the guy then hit him with quick attacks, rinse and repeat until dead. And Chi is unlimited when I use Dawn Star on support (so far the best companion I've had).

See, I hardly ever use Dawn Star.. I guess I just haven't gotten used to her yet. I like the guy with the axes on attack - I haven't really gotten used to using people on support yet because then they come after me and only me!

I do like the merchant follower, though - that's really convenient. And the guy who drops booze for drunken master is neat, but not as useful as I'd like him to be

Yea hehe, I pretty much exlusively use Black Whirlwind and Dawn Star. The demon guy/Wild Flower sucks I think. I use Sky sometimes, but not much. Using Dawn Star on support is pretty easy now, when I'm fighting non-immune monsters. I either paralyze them with Paralyzing Palm or slow them with Heavenly Wave then pick them off one at a time with Frost Shard. If the monsters are immune I just letBlack Whirlwind take the hits and shoot ice at them from far away ;p

One thing that's driving me crazy is for whatever reason, I can't always switch just using the D pad - I have to hold down the arrow and bring up the list to switch as opposed to just bringing it up - it's strange, because on Scott's character it works fine.

Yea, sometimes i get a little trouble switching, like i'll press left and it will switch to the down style. But really I only use two styles and I dont switch too often so it's not a big deal. Have you had to fight 2+ horse demons yet? I find them to be harder than any boss I have fought yet, their ranged power attack does like... a lot of damage >_<

finally sat down and played a bit this weekend, got my dual sabers, killed serpent, etc etc

so far, ravager was the most difficult for me, or those 3 golems in the tournament.. the arena has been my favorite so far, though

the arena definately owns. the golems are pretty easy if you have a decent amount of focus to use your sabres with. Ravager is all about being patient, you just let him rush then jump him and get in as many hits as you can. The hardest for me was serpent because those damn horse demons kept doing there explode AE and immolating me. Did you play as yourself or whirlwind when you fought serpent? I used whirlwind.

I used Whirlwind on the serpent - I thought it might be fun to play someone else =b he has crazy hp's

Where are you now? Scott's speculating that the game is almost over since I'm in imperial city, but I'm pretty sure it isn't.. and I guess I'd like to hope that for 40 bucks there's still al ot more left

I played for about 30 minutes or so last night before I had stuff to get done.. I'm in the necropolis now working on the 3 ghosts. I had gone to help the lady with her baby but accidentally selected the wrong name so she tried to kill me >< I didn't want to fight so I reloaded, I'm a good kid !

So I beat it yesterday, and let me just say - holy shit, I wasn't expecting that.
