Trading in the Neon

Postby The Kizzy » Thu Apr 28, 2005 8:36 am

So I am going today to look at some used vehicles. I have a 2000 Dodge Neon that I just put $400 of work in the front tires, and now the back ones are making funny noises, plus I am to big for that car. He is trying to get me to take a Honda Civic, but I doubt I will go for another car, I am hoping to get a small SUV or a minivan, or a truck again. Wish me luck!!

Go with a early 90's saab or a late 80's. If I can fit my big Swedish frame in the car and am comfortable you should be fine. And get a stick. Guys dig chicks that drive a good stick.

i told them a) you don't sit in an rx7 you lay down and b) there's no back seats

then i test drove a miata once and i could barely close the door because my knee was in the way ;\

hahaha I just got this mental picture of your entire head above the windshield of a miata with oldschool pilots helmet and flying goggles wearing faggy driving gloves and a pink scarf. No offense or anything but that would look pretty funny.

Kizzy... I recommend going to get a lease on a NEW Nissan Altima. You can get a lower end one for 200 a month right now. That lease deal ends soon so i would move fast. lastly sell your car DO NOT trade it in.

The Altima is a piece of shit. She's 6'3 dude, she's not a midget exmarine dorkfuck like you.

Good luck finding a minivan, SUV, or truck. I love my Z71 and its comfortable as hell.

Maybe they've changed since then, but I fit quite comfily into a friend's '04 Altima, driver's and passenger's seats both. Decent head and leg room.
Moved my seat all the way back, and the people sitting behind me weren't even crushed to death~

Felt alright driving too. Much zippier and more responsive than my '96 Accord (not to mention roomier), anyway.

Going on 2 years, no problems yet.

Edit: I suppose that, in order for this to be any form of useful comparison, it bears mentioning that I am 3 inches taller than Kizzy.

I think Im going to take Ralf's advice and sell it. They will only give me $1200 for the trade in, and I know Blue Book is $5000 on it. I only owe $3600. I'm going with Honda because the bank will look past all the shit my ex left on my credit with his BK, and still finance me.

I have owned three honda Civics, you cant kill them with a gun. Two of them I sold with over 250K miles and were still in good running order, the last one I hit a horse with and the car still runs, it doesnt have any windows, but it runs like a charm

Good cars, I highly recommend they

small SUV, truck, minivan, all = shit gas mileage which isnt pretty at 2.60 a gallon.
Used Camry 4 cylinder, Accord 4 cylinder = indestructable and 30 miles to the gallon, and big enough for you and your kids. Youll get a comfortable, roomy, reliable car with excellent crash ratings, and youll thank yourself every time you hit a gas station. Literally hundreds of dollars saved over the course of a year :)

Er, they make minivans with 4 cylinder engines and it'd be a better setup for her two kids. Plus the mpg is fairly close. Hauling kids around for various things is MUCH easier in a minivan than a small chick college car. Plus if you want to take any kids friends, you are good in the minivan but screwed in the accord.

The MPG difference is negligible.

Do you get the "Auto-trader" in your area? If so use that. Its 49 dollars for a four week listing which is both in the local magazines they sell and their website. I have sold 4 cars for top dollar with that method.

If you trade it in you are going to get raped on the price.

Good idea Colonel Dongdestroyer.... Who in their fucking right mind would want to drive a mini van in the first place not to mention one that is gutless with a 4 banger engine?

Buy an H2 and write it off as a business necessity for "Kizzy's Oven Fresh Danishes". Crushing prices at the pump will be of no concern.

Man I drove a mini-van for a while before we had trucks at an ADSL install job I had a long time ago. I seriously loved that thing. It was sweet.

I dont know where you got that figure from. Dont think it was from the website you quoted.

2003 Honda Accord 4-cylinder manual = 26/34
2003 Camry 4-cylinder manual = 23/33

I think I'm going with the Civic. The payment is affordable, its a 2001 in mint condition with 33,000 miles, and it has fucking gobs of leg room. I don't know, still undecided.

2004 Honda 2003 Dodge
Accord (V6 standard) Caravan 2WD (2.4L 4 Cyl)

MPG (city)
21 21

MPG (hwy)
30 27

MPG (comb)
24 23

The four cylinder Accord goes to 24/33. Really not that much difference.

I completely disagree with calling the Accord comfortable and roomy for running about with two kids. Its a small car for kids, IMO. So is a Camry. Especially when you are talking about a woman over six feet tall.

I can't think of any Mom I know who'd prefer a Camry or Accord over a minivan. I see 90% of my subdivision here is SUV or Minivan for running their kids around.
