NT's education level.

Postby Diekan » Sat May 07, 2005 5:34 am

Let's see where we as a board stand over all with our education level.

Mods - please moderate this thread for jabs, insults and unwarrented comments. This is not to be turned into an insult / flame war... thanks.

If you want, post your degree(s) / what you're majoring in / what you want to major in / what you do (if college wasn't / isn't your thing).

Will have my PhD in Psychology soon. For now, I teach at the university here in Wilmington.

Currently I'm teaching:

general psychology
educational psychology
abnormal psychology

I've been taught and can teach all of the following though:

behavior modification
child development
interpersonal communication
sensation and perception
behavioral statistics
interviewing/counseling techniques

I'm still up in the air as to what I'll do once ive got my PhD; most people would like me to keep teaching. I guess we will see what happens.

I have two AA degrees. One in General Ed, and one in Administration of Justice. I also took all of the lower-division Anthropology classes, so if I really wanted to, I could probably apply for an AA degree evaluation for Anthropology.

I am also working on my Bachelor's degree in Business Admin and my major is Management (although I did not count it in this poll since I haven't achieved it yet). I only have 4 classes left before I graduate in September (each class is 5 weeks long).

I am also going to enroll in another online degree program soon after I get my Bachelor's degree, but this time for either an MBA, or an MS in Management. I'm kind of leaning towards the MSM because an MBA is more of a generalist (where you learn a little of this and a little of that), and the MS in Management is more directed in one concentration. Besides, my bet is that there will be more MBA's running around than MSM's. :boots:

I kind of have this institution in mind: http://www.tesc.edu/prospective/graduat ... /msmpm.php

voted "High School Diploma, currently IN college"

but i should clarify

when i quit college i was only 3 full-time semesters away from a BA in english

then i went to a two-month, twelve hour a day school to learn pro audio engineering and graduated top of my class

i came back home and could not for the life of me find a job doing that, so i eventually ended up working in the probation office where i've been for two years next month. unexpectedly, i really took to the criminal justice system and would like to become an actual probation officer-- but you can't even apply without first having a bachelor's degree of SOME kind.

so, currently i'm looking for a feasible option that will allow me to finish my degree in three full-time semesters because a) i miss school and b) if i had to stretch it out over two or three years i would probably go nuts

a more accurate poll option for me would be: high school diploma, almost done with college but on hiatus

How about jabs to yourself?

Wow I feel like a loser heh. After graduating high school in 1998, I have only my basic prerequisite courses done at community college. I'm still registered but taking some time off till I figure out what I should major in..or if I'll even find a job going up against other people who are better than me with the same degree. You all must be rich to be able to afford college, but that's what I get for getting married so young, not sticking with it, and not having my parents' support in any form. God I feel like total worthless shit now thanks to this thread lol.

I'd bet you'll find that most people (these days) don't get much help from their parents in paying for college. I know I didn't. People like myself had to live off Ramen and work "almost" full time to get by and paid our tuition with grants and loans. Loans that we're now paying back WITH interest.

For a lot of us, it was no easy road... we weren't rich... we didn't get much help. We just did what we had to do to get it done.

I have a license to practice dental hygiene, but I voted associate degree, which is sort of the same thing except you have to take state boards. And I voted that also, because I do not have a bachelors degree, which I have been working on for about three years, but after getting fired from the third job for having interest in furthering my education, I stopped wasting my time and money.

Speaking of money for college, lol...that's another thread. I never even had a discussion with my parents about college beyond whether I was going, forget talking about money. When I said, "Am I going to college?" they said, "If you want to go to college, join the military."

That was their advice. Way to set me up for failure, and then bitch at me the rest of my entire life for not being able to afford a living.

Hope, at least you got some basics out of the way. I graduated in May 01 and got married in July 01. That right there pretty much set me up for not going to college right away. I divorced him in Jan 03 and lived back with my parents and worked full time to pay off my bills that he had racked up. Then in Oct 04 I married Gid, he makes more money and his mom *cough* helps *cough* us with bills and extra money sometimes, so I might be able to go to college soon, working part time so I at least have SOME time with my family.

I'll be going to school for psychology.

1. Associates Degree in Pre-Law
2. Bachelors degree in Genereal Studies
3. Bachelors degree in Nursing

Certifications in Emergency Nursing (C.E.N.), Trauma Nursing(T.N.C.C.), Adult/Pediatric/Neonatal Life Support, and a few other ones.

The best thing about Nursing is that you can find many hospitals that will actually pay for your college OR will pay you upfront with sign on bonuses that will help cover the majority of your education costs. The hospitals will also cover you continuing education.

Jennay -

Not rich, nor do I have parental support for my college money. I got a good scholarship from the school I go to, and the rest I have loans for which I will be paying out the ass on when I graduate. :(

High School Diploma, currently in college: but should clarify. I went to college for a year but am now taking awhile away from it due to reasons I won't get into here.

Not sure what I'm going to major in yet, but it will be either Video Game Design, Music, Psychology, Philosophy, or Creative Writing.

I wish I could be a teacher. But I can't get up in the morning. Gosh....I fear for the children who have to deal with me in the morning!

But I would teach creative writing in college and it is probably what I will end up doing.

I voted AA... I have about 3/4 of my BS in MIS done. I dropped out completely over two years ago.

It was a smart decision. I was wasting time and a ton of money on a career that would have gone no where. Instead I started my own company which is doing well. I intend to go back to college for my 6 months and take some music classes or something in maybe a year. My main purpose for going is to drive my lambo around and pick up on young sluts and be the big rich man on campus and have my security beat the dogshit out of annoying frat boys.
