Problem with my new computer.

Postby Jazendar » Sat May 07, 2005 3:47 pm

I have everthing put together, and right now, every 15 minutes while i playing games, i get a random reboot.

When i bought my case, the xion one, off of Newegg, it came with a 20pin power supply.

I bought my motherboard, which has 20 pins, + 4 more pins for my video card. So that leaves my 4 video card pins, unoccupied, with none of the power supply pins in them. So i've got to go to frys and spend 80 more dollars (which i dont have right now) to buy a 24 bit power supply, and tough it out until I can do that. Which sucks, because i might have to play my old computer until I get that power supply. Getting a reboot every 5-15 minutes while in a game, really, really sucks. I turned down the specs of my video card, to 351 MHZ for the Engine clock, and 434.08 MHZ for the Memory Clock. They were bouth at 398 and 498 ish range before. And i'm still getting reboots. I'll take a ss of my desktop, but I need someone to tell me how to post it.

To take a screenshot of your desktop:

1. with no other windows open on your desktop, push the PRINT SCREEN key.

2. go to PROGRAMS -> ACCESSORIES -> MSPAINT (or just PAINT)

3. From the menu, click EDIT -> PASTE

4. From the menu, click FILE -> SAVE and name the file and *PAY ATTENTION* to where it's being saved.
(edit: please, make sure that SAVE AS TYPE is set to JPG (might say JPEG, JPG, JPE, etc)

You now have a screenshot with which to share. Enjoy! :boots:

May also want to make sure your CPU fan is functioning. overheating your CPU would do the same thing.

My video card is in, everything is in. It's just that the power supply is a 20pin and leaves 4 pins out of the video card. It boots up counterstrike, world of warcraft, etc. But it'l kick me out, and my graphix are messed up in wow. Some people are naked, or named "unknown entity's", and it won't show my pic, and when i hit c, it shows my pic in full white. I don't know, it's weird. Anyone know where to find the listings of power supplies off newegg with 24pin? because when i look for power supplies, it doesn't show how many pins it is.

I'm not going to play on it until i get the power supply, i don't want it to burn itself up, even though i've got a fan for every single part of my computer...Processor, video card, etc etc. Any help is appreciated. Thansk in advance.
