A letter of reprimand compared to 11 years in prison? I'd tell the Army to get bent.

Nice! 100 times the pay, 100 times less danger, and they get a letter saying bad girl, versus hard time in Leavenworth.

So much for the whole purpose of having officers.

Demotion and a LOR is proper punishment for those officers involved with the Abu Ghraib humiliation of detainees, per my estimation.

I dont think what was done was worth having some no named female private put into prison for 6 years.
Geneva has no code on terrorists, Which is what most of the prisoners were termed as. Al Quieda (sorry for spelling?) Is not sanctioned military of the Iraqi people. Therefore they do not qualify for P.o.W treatment under Geneva.

At least thats my humble opinion on the subject.
When they (the terrorists) stop beheading americans that they kidnap, and treat them in a humane fashion then we can stop degrading these terrosist scum.

Intill that time, Any member of Al Quieda (spelling?) that we capture should be taken out on a saturday morning, have pigs fat stuffed into their mouth, then be beheaded on pay per view. Im sure HBO would love the ratings.

But again this is just my opinion.

I thought you said that they shouldn't be punished at all because they are serving their country and this is liberal propoganda?(you might not have said that last part, but the first part I remember).

You're on glue. I never said they shouldn't be punished at all. Paying attention, coupled with reading comprehension, is your friend.

So then under your reasoning nothing should happen to those that beheaded those Americans?

Kizzy, I said when the terrorists stop beheading americans. Then we can stop doing what that private was doing. Intill then why should we even talk Geneva when they ( they meaning Al Quieda ) dont even give a rats ass about human rights.

WoWshaman, the problem is (if I am remembering correctly), most of the people abused and tortured were not terrorists. They were petty criminals (ie looters) or innocent people, most of them were later released.

So the people in charge get demoted, the people who did it get prison. IMO the people in charge should get just as harsh a punishment as those who did the act, if not worse.

They are responsible for the actions of those whom are under their command. They took on the responsibility, now they should pay for those actions.
For to win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the acme of skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill.
