HS diploma + 12 hours at a school that most likely won't transfer anywhere.

I made a life decision and quit college, came home, got a job, and got married. I graduated high school with honors at a private school, and was doing well in college so there was no incentive gradewise to quit... I just wanted to do the marriage thing and will have been married 3 years June 22 of this year. I'm 23.

High School Diploma, lots of random college courses (no degree) - engineering, art, design/flash/photoshop stuff, math, e commerce, business, finance, economics...

Planning on taking acting, pyschology/ethics/human behavior, photography, and computer science classes.

No fucking clue if I'll get a degree or what it will be in, but hopefully all this random shit will count as electives or something.

I went to college for 4 years, jumped majors too much. Electrical Engineering credits don't translate well into Sociology credits. So I've been taking the past two years off, but I am returning this fall for pre-Law and eventually Law School in the next 2-3 years. End goal is to open a Title Agency, already have the financial backer and staff waiting for me... paying for school etc.

So my option is not there, high school diploma(never picked it up however) and some college.

For a lot of us, it was no easy road... we weren't rich... we didn't get much help. We just did what we had to do to get it done.

Preach on, brother-sister!

I 'paid' for most of my college with the HOLY SHIT, WHY WOULD YOU GIVE A SEVENTEEN YEAR OLD A FUCKING CREDIT CARD?? - credit card. As the statements came in, I waved at them on their way to the trash. Obviously, I'm still suffering from those credit hits  .

I majored in Astronomy and Mathematics, slight emphasis on physics. My 'plan' was to finish grad school and get a research job in a remote observatory or something cool like NASA... but I.T. was paying me a fucking ton of money ( 9/11) and so... I never finished (hell, one-semester) the masters. I'm trying to go back, It's just hard to get back after so long. I graduated high-school way young... started college way young... and am now feeling way too old to 'start up' again. Odd?

I never went to college except for a couple classes here and there that I don't count, but I plan to start again soon...at my age!

I know how you feel, I was about 1 semester from finishing my MS degree when I left college (My spot in the program was taken by a few indian students that were not ready to go home). Now as much as I want to go back, its just a hard transition to make.

Finished high school with honors

went to university, cause it seemed like the right thing to do

Got a biology degree
hated every minute of university
(you got rewarded for working hard, not being smart, and that irked me for some reason)

Was so burned out after finishing that I walked away from it completely and got a job with the local ISP/telco

been there for almost 10 years now, and the company has been good.

Certified in SUN, HPUX, and CCNA, and generally liking networking work

Post some of it. I'm interested in reading it. Just post some of your own favorite "highlights" per say.

You are missing Bachelor's Degree + Professional Designation (CPA, Lawyer,...)

I counted it as Masters degree as I spent over a year solid working on getting my accounting designation (okay, a Canadian CA = CPA in USA).

Hey Ironfang, nice to see another accountant here.

2 associates (Accounting, Business Mgmt)
which became
2 bachelors (same degree's)

and now with a kid on the way studying for the CPA &/or CMA (Certified Public Accountant, Certified Managerial Accountant) has taken a back seat, so I plan on sitting for the exam within the next year. I'm already at a CPA firm and enjoying auditing so far, so we'll see where it goes. I have 169 credit hours down w/o my masters and since I only need 150 for the CPA I decided to just stop where I was (we'll see if I kick myself in the ass for this later or not), but I was just plain sick of college.... now I almost wish I was back

Lesley College- Cambridge, MA
BS in Human Services with Double Minor in Counseling Psych & Creative Writing + Lit.

American University- DC
Washington Semester in Criminal Justice (Jr Yr - Spring Semester - RULED!)

Boston University - Masters of Social Work 9 credits

Lesley School of Management - Masters of Management - Focus on Marketing 16 credits

PreReqs in Biology for Mass General Hospital Masters in Nursing - NP Program

Ended up in Healthcare IT and determined that my Healthcare IT career was what I needed to focus on instead of a graduate programs. The software company I worked for, MEDITECH, required a lot of travel so going to classes would never have worked back then. I was at Andersen Consulting after that and on the road even more so it really wasn't even an option. I don't regret that decision one bit. I could go back at any time and get my masters paid for at 100% by my employer but it would not advance me any further in my career. I may look at doing a Registered Clinical Dietician Program at some point in the future but that would only be if I plan to switch careers. Right now I am very comfy as is.

University of Iowa - Art major/English minor (parents paid)

Iowa Central Community College - Aeronautical Science (I paid)

2 years of flight school cost more than 5 years at Iowa. Now I can kick back as an airline pilot making a whopping $22k first year.

I joined the Air Force after high school. Best choice I've ever made. I've worked comm the whole time I've been in, everything from phones, servers, lan, wan...everything.

I make great money, will make much more when I get retire (at 38) and continue doing what I do now....without worrying about it getting outsourced.

Haha awesome! I went from 2001-2002 at the Webster City campus.

And Zeek, don't believe the media. Goddamn USA Today the other day said that a pilot taking a 20% pay cut from his $300k a year job stood to lose $60k a year.
However, they didn't point out that only 1-2% of the very highest ranking pilots make that pay. Next year I'll make 33k. Year after that 35k. When I make captain I'll make just over $50k.
Then I'll apply to a major airline (AA, Delta, United) and start off at $35k first year. Second year jumps to $80k. Third year $90k. But that's not even a job I can apply to for another 5 years minimum. That's a lot of dues.
I've been making less than $10k a year for two years as a flight instructor working 6 days a week (This is after all the school loans and 2 years of school). Then I flew by myself across Florida thunderstorms at night for $30k a year. Did I mention it was 12 hours a day? Then I got hired at American Eagle, where 8 out of the other 12 guys didn't make the cut. That's a typical scenerio.

I know a guy who went through the Delta/Comair flight school, and now he's a pilot for Comair making like $30k/yr. What a joke Comair is.
