Bots on EQ2

Sup all, old Miroh here. Seeings Sony's site nerf's our rants I'm coming here, hope ya don't mind.

In EQ2 there's a huge problem with people box'in 5-6 accounts personally gettin fuckin sick of these bitches that do nothing but steal camps (still some camps in EQ2) and harvest up everything.

In final Fuck you and all your god damn friends......bitch.

As long as there is money to be made, Sony will continue to cater to folks who play the game this way. Only thing close to a solution that I have seen so far is the instanced places. (LDoN type stuff etc.)

I still can't understand why Sony doesn't sell platinum/gold/whatever game cards as well. They could undercut the competition and it would all be 100% profit. It's not like they have morals anymore. (If they ever did.)

Those fuckers would never address it. In fact there aren't 4 dev responses about botters on the dev tracker recently and this is not in the news links on thier site!!!

Sony Online has continued efforts since launch to keep the EverQuestII game world free of players who use exploits to gain an unfair advantage, especially with bots and macros. Over 700 accounts were banned for various forms of cheating and exploiting during the past 2 weeks alone. It is our goal to continue investigations into suspicious in-game activity and ban accounts with violations.

"We'd like to thank our EverQuest II customers for all of their reports in rounding up these crews, and helping us show them they're not welcome in Norrath," said EverQuest II Senior Producer Scott Hartsman. "A few hundred 'bot subscriptions just aren't worth the money when compared to keeping the game fun for hundreds of thousands of people."

I'm not saying that I agree with overpower tactics and messing with other people, but don't characterize anyone who boxes as evil, just because some people are jerks about it.

Some Bot characteristics
Botters frequently trade off large sums of money and consistantly farm green mobs for chest drops. They will run over groups and train people. They aren't boxed but controlled via a third party program which is against the EULA. EQ2 version is a complete group controlled by one person. Generally, they have/had the highest death ratio and are comprised of gibberish names.

I 3 box LDON's with my twinks, does that make me evil? I don't use a 3rd party program besides EQWindows which when they went to windowed mode became legal again.

The problem with bots and farming is the real world cash for items and ingame money trade. The very second that a company turns a blind eye or does not do it's utmost to safe quard from both a real life market surronding the game, or exploits it fails the average game player. These sort of things compromise the integrity of the game. Personally I've seen from Blizzard what I wished I had seen with Sony in this and many other areas.

Boxing in my opinion is fine, I've done it with a friends account to get us to lvl 50 but having a full group of players controled by one running all around either harvesting and killing every mob they can get their dick beatin hands on just isn't fun to deal with.

I don't know if it went deep into EQ1 but EQ2 it has badly which I'm guessing is b/c of the money system it has where it's alot harder to get cash and alot buy it from these bots b/c normal players can't get loot from named/harvested rares because they all over everything like "stink on shit" But it's pretty easy to tell who's botting and who isn't. I group of stupid names, or names in relation to one another (one odd ball alot of times) and all roleplaying and guildless.

If it's 1 person running that many accounts at once...it might be worth arguing about which popular MMO game actually takes talent and/or attention to play...because certain other unnamed MMO's are pretty much impossible to 2-box 5-box. You'd think SOE would have been smart enough to eliminate the lame camping issues.

They do it by using an outside program. Supposedly, you can hit a button and 5 characters fire off a nuke or something. These groups are generally made up of 5 wizzes and a healer. All the person really has to control is the healer.
