What Peer to Peer do you all recommend?

Post by Captain Insano »

This changes regularly so I wanted a current concensus.

I want to download a lot of music videos and asian porn to be honest. But I don't want any nasty spyware. Some of that shit is getting hard to remove and I hate hacking it out of the registry.

Get rid of the pictures of the goofy looking white guy. That opens two right there.

Limewire seems to be ok atm

I really don't download much shit anymore at all, but when I have had to, it's worked fine

the only issue I have with it, is that it requires java, and java is always a big target for hax/spyware/virii/etc

Limewire and E-Mule are both very popular, but for the content you are looking for I would strongly consider using binary newsgroups.

Is the MPAA, RIAA, IRIAF, IAF, and other still targeting those who use P2P?

I'm curious when I'll be getting sued for downloading stuff.

I have always wondered about newsgroups... How do you access these binary ones and how do you search them? I wouldn't mind downloading some movies too.

newsgroups can be useful, though there is far more junk then usefull stuff in them. I hear some good thigns about limewire.

When you connect to your Usenet provider, you'll get a listing of available newsgroups to subscribe to. The binary groups will have the "alt.binaries" prefix. Files are usually uploaded in segments for you to download and extract with Winrar. Obviously, it's not as intuitive as using Limewire, but you'll have a hefty selection of smut at your disposal nonetheless.

Soulseek is ok, but I hardly ever find what I'm looking for. Limewire is the own (for now - till the Kazaa tards start migrating to it and fuck it up too) and with the exception of a few porn movies I pretty much find what I want.

I used to have a program called Picture Sucker that would browse for picture files from a user defined list of newsgroups. You never really knew what you were going to find when you opened the directory. You might find a sweet Victoria Secret model in the buff or you might find some lot lizard with a road cone stuffed up her twat. It was like porn du jour, often disturbing, occasionally enlightening, and always entertaining.

They tend to go after the people hosting large numbers of files, not those that download

when i'm rich I'm going to put intarweb satellites into orbit. I will then host perfectly ripped 192kb MP3s of EVERY major new mainstream CD and every movie the day they hit the stores/theaters..

I will allow free access and fast downloads to the world and bring the entertainment industry to its knees.

And then they would go out of business and you'd have no more music/movies to host=P

Would that be such a bad thing? If the entertainment industry was completely wiped out, only grassroots movements would be left, people could again make music and movies for the entertainment value instead of the net sales, artists could be judged on their ability not the amount of plastic surgery they have endured.

.....naaaa probly never happen.

I for one would welcome a return to independent game studios, rather then corporate clearinghouses. Unfortunately, the technological explosion raises significant barriers to an indie return.

The only thing preventing smaller independent gaming companies from thriving are distribution deals.

EBgames, Wal Mart, etc charge money to distro games.

Small businesses also can't buy gaming software unless they purchase a case of a title at a time. Distributors won't piecemeal them.
