Soloing

Postby Gidan » Tue May 24, 2005 1:14 pm

How is soloing/duoing in EQ2?

I am considering a Summoner but would like to know if I would be able to solo. When duoing I will probably be duoing with a fighter of some sort.

What do people think are in general beter soloers? What groups well with a fighter type person, please dont answer with "a healer"

Pretty much everyone can solo Gidan. My Guardian is a great soloer.

So all classes solo well, that’s a nice change. Are there some that are better at it then others though (keeping in mind down time and such)? Keep in mind I have never been over level 5 so I don’t really have an idea of how the game works, all I have really heard is that its very different from EQ1.

The best solo class in the game is the Paladin. Followed by the casting classes.
At the bottom of the soloing tree would be the rogues.

Yeah I gotta agree with Lyion. The Paladin may be the best, but all the fighter classes solo well. My guardian, with 1h and shield up, just has so much mitigation, orange solo mobs dont stand a chance, nor do green, and sometimes blue, group mobs. This is at 27th level mind you, not sure what its like at higher levels.

Ill take a guess that healers are great soloers also.

I like the summoner for soloing because of the decent pet damage, low mana dots and efficient pet heals. Get an adept III of your pet and an adept III of your heal whenever you can and you are golden.

Sounds good, looks like I will be starting a summoner on highkeep and will see how it goes.

Um, it all depends on what you're going to try and solo. Personally seen Paladins and Guardians get owned only a few paladins were actually good enough to be able to kite named mobs. But imo the best solo'er is a Summoner which can either be Necromancer(FP, evil based) or Conjuror (Qeynos, good based) Got bored after hitting 50 so I started playing my Conjuror and can take on a group of 4 lvl 24's and him being 22 (now 23) Plus summoners can heal their pets.

Just let pet take agro then dot the living shit out of the mobs and heal pet from time to time. :owned:

But when you get into the mid 30's and up it becomes alot harder. Getting hit by a barrage for 2.5k can hurt anyone. Thats when I stopped solo'in and went to duo'in and trio'in which is very popular now and get killer exp. My monk duo'ed with either a druid friend or cleric friend and was awesome.

This week while soloing in Emerald, I saw a 30 Paladin chain killing level 35 MOBs.

They are by far the best solo class.

Summoners are good, but are prone to die a lot. Ask Kahar how long his lasted when he got aggro.
